HISTORY OF SAN JUAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

San Juan Elementary School

In 1962, San Juan Barrio School was established to meet the increasing demands of parents to have a barrio school. Four classes were organized but were all housed in rented homes. Approximately 30 pupils in a class. At first, they have four teachers and they were Mrs. Cresencia Atanacio, Grade One teacher, Mrs. Stella Burgos, Grade Two teacher, Ms. Marilou Tagalog,Grade three teacher, and Mr. Servito De Jesus, Grade four teacher. The only qualification of teacher is to be a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Mrs. Segundina Concepcion Omaa was the first principal of San Juan Elementary School and the first graduation was held in 1966 and forty pupils had graduated. Six classes were located in San Juan proper ( Crisostomo Annex) and one class was located in a rented house in Manila Rail Road (MRR). In 1965 three more classes were organized M. In 1966 a two- room army type building was constructed under the leadership of Councilman Sevando De Guzman. Mrs. Segundina Concepcion Omana

The municipal government had added another room, thus making a total of three rooms owned by the government and the municipal Mayor then was Francisco P. Felix. The office of the head quarters was situated in a rented room at Crisostomo Annex in the barrio proper. A yearly increase of two classes was organized. In 1968 a six-room Marcos type building was constructed in St. Francis Subdivision

San Juan Barrio School has two separate building by the year 1969 with one school head. The distance between St. Francis and MRR was quite far and the head teacher of San Juan Barrio School had a hard time in supervising the two schools, thru the help of the new supervisor, Mrs. Jesusa Tanyag teacher in charge was appointed in school thus making independent school now bearing the name of San Juan Elementary School.
In 1970, another six rooms Marcos type building was built at St. Francis but still the school has to rent more rooms to accommodate the increasing enrolment. Due to lack of rooms the school at St. Francis,thru the help of Parent- Teacher Association (PTA) constructed a temporary five

rooms Shed Adjacent to the first Marcos type building. In 1975 the principal of both school were at the same time promoted to other district thus leaving the school to specially appointed teacher in charge. In October 1975, Mr. Servito De Jesus took over San Juan Elementary School and Mrs. Esmenia Reyes took over San Juan Elementary School U-1 in 1978. Both schools have each Bagong Lipunan Building with three rooms in each building. Another Unit 1 Bagong Lipunan building was constructed with three rooms in the year 1980. On November 24, the principal, Mr. Servito C. De Jesus had his stroke right in his office and unluckily he was not able to survive and died on November 28, 1980. In his absence the acting assistant principal, Mrs. Rosita Santos took over until a new principal Mrs. Erlinda B. De Leon came on August 4, 1981. Under the supervision of the dynamic principal, San Juan Elementary School has improved and developed due to the increase of enrolment. Mrs. De Leon was promoted in 1985. Mrs. Noime O. Guerrero preceded her. Under her supervision, six room Rodriguez building and eight room San Juan building were built. She retired and replaced by Mrs. Susana Abiog, stayed for a short period of time because she was promoted in 1993. Mrs. Lourdes Ison took her place who stayed for three years.

Dr. Leticia Ibanez came in as the incumbent principal. Six-room Felix building and another six room BOD building were constructed in her administration. She was transferred to GSIS last 2003. Mrs. Marites Ibanez immediately took the vacant position as the principal of San Juan Elementary School but then leave the position as she was promoted as District Supervisor.

Felix Type Building

Mr. Ernesto B. Discutido came in and served for more than three years. In his administration, one room Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce, six room DPWH BOD building , six-room Ynares building and a deep- well water facility were constructed, and the surroundings of the Felix building had landscaped. He was transferred on November 2006.

Miss Raquel Pinon took over Mr. Discutidos position on November 2006. She had the completion of the DepEd BOD six-room building. Spearheaded the feeding program for Grades 1 to 3 undernourished pupils, put up school clinic, and had the landscape of the front surroundings of Ynares building. She stayed only up to September 14, 2007

Mr. Leoncio P. Padit transferred in and assumed the office of the principal. In his administration Ynares type stage, Iron Gate beside the Principals office, library, computer room and eating area were built. Repainting and renovation of the Grade 3 building (two storey rooms of Reynaldo San Juan Building),Felix Bldg. including Principals office, garden landscape, and mural paintings in canteen and stair walls were some of the improvement accomplished in his administration.

Fredelito B. Cabalang

On January 18, 2011, Mr. Fredelito B. Cabalang deployed as the Principal. He is currently the principal of San Juan Elementary School. In his desire to further improve the school. He has accomplished the following projects, the removal of over-head tank, installation of NAWASA, access of internet connection in the computer room, reformatting of all computers, renovation of the office and library. At this point, the school has numerous progress and projects that soon to be accomplished through the collaborative effort by the LGU and official stakeholders.
