Commissioner: Marine Mizandari, First Deputy Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia Curator: Joanna Warsza The Georgian Pavilion is a parasitic extension of a building in the Arsenale taking the form of a kamikaze loggia designed by the artist Gio Sumbadze and hosting 12 other

artists. This kind of vernacular architecture has been created in Tbilisi since the 1990s as a response to the "lawless" times after the fall of the USSR. The exhibition looks at informal architecture in the Caucasus and the legacy of Soviet planning while introducing the critical artistic scene of a country sometimes described as Italy gone Marxist.
