Course Objectives
Review fundamentals (circuit construction, principle of operation and modeling) of half-bridge, 2-level VSCs and multi-level VSCs Understand different operation modes of VSCs (current-controlled, voltage-controlled, grid-connected, isolated micro-grid, variable frequency, etc.)

Basic understanding of power electronic converters, power systems and control theory. Familiarity with a programming language and/or a simulation package such as MATLAB/Simulink or EMTDC/PSCAD.
