ADOPTION OF THIRTY YEARS CALENDAR STARTING FROM 1425 A.H 25/5/1425 In the name of Allah the beneficent the most merciful. Assalamu Alaikum. The Education unit of SHAMDI hereby inform all persons and authorities in our great SHAMDI that that the approved calendar for the next thirty years starting from 1425 has been approved by the unit to be in the following form; SUMMARY OF RESEARCH; This approved calendar emerges after a research conducted by the unit which indicates that: 1. It takes the moon 29.5306 days to complete its phase on the average level. 2. While lunar months as contained in prophetic hadith is either 29 or 30 days. Therefore, it was proposed that theoretically each lunar month should be 29.5 (29 1/2) days. Hence the lunar months are 29.5 days (with an error of 0.0306 days). 3. Following the 29.5 days theoretical allocation, we cannot apply it without negatively tampering with the prophetic provision. Therefore, the unit proposed that Muharram shall have 29 days and its day is added to the days of Safar. I.e. 29.5 days, to give 30 days, so Safar has 30 days, this continues up to Dhul Hijjah. 4. Therefore, base on this application the following months shall have 29 days each, Muharram, Rabiul Awwal, Jimada Ula, Rajab, Ramadan, and Dhul Qaada h. While the following months shall have 30 days each, Safar, Rabiul Thani, Jimada Akhir, Shaaban, Shawwal, and Dhul Hijjah. 5. There is an error of 0.0306 day in this arrangement, which in a year builds up to 0.3672 days. In three years it reaches 1.1016 days. Therefore to correct this problem is to insert 1 day in the calendar-that is to intercalate 1 day every 3 years. 6. Alternative solution is to intercalate 3 days over a period of 8 years or 7 days in 19 years or 11 days in 30 years. 7. All of the solutions in (6) have been utilized by different organizations. However, Education unit adopted the last solution, which remains in favour to any intellectual organisation of sound academic background. And is the best in terms of precision.

8. In this proposed calendar, the intercalary years in the 30 years interval falls on the 2 nd, 5th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th, 18th, 21st, 24th, 26th, and 29th. Then starting again in the same circle. 9. Using this intercalary calendar a year will have 354 days clear and 355 leap years. And 360 lunar months which contained 361 days and erred by only 1 day every 2500 years. 10. In sighting of moon, the crescent usually occurs 2 days of (maximum) after the occurrences of the new moon in the calendar. 11. The unit found that Muharram of 1425 begins on Sunday. THE RESOLUTIONS: The unit base on this research therefore resolve that anywhere in SHAMDI, Rabiul Awwal, Jimada Ula, Rajab, Ramadan, and Dhul Qaadah, shall have 29 days each. And all the rest of the months shall have 30 days each, except Muharram alone which shall have 29 days clear or thirty days on leap year. Leap years for the first 30 years are: 1426, 1430, 1432, 1435, 1438, 1441, 1443, 1446, 1449, 1451, and 1454 for the first 30 years. The calendar is expected to be out of use in 3925A.H. If the world still alive by then, the unit will come up with another calendar which will take account of the one (1) day error accumulated by then. All persons and authorities in our great SHAMDI shall take note of this resolution. Maassalamat
