Suna no Hoshi: Chapter Summaries Chapter One: Sandy Safe Haven The Kyuubi is sealed and Minato dies,

after requesting that Kushina try to live and check on their son. As per his orders to flee to Suna for help if something were to go wrong for Naruto after Minatos death, Kushina goes on a suicide run after waking up and saving Naruto from an assassination attempt. There, she has doubts and leaves Naruto behind a barrier before entering and meeting with the Kazekage. After close (and final) talk, Kushina dies after the Kazekage swears to take care of her and Naruto. A search is held for the baby, who is hidden until the barrier falls and a civilian family finds the baby and brings it to the orphanage, where everyone is looking for a blond baby boy and Naruto is in fact a blonde baby girl. Chapter Two: What Ive Done The search for Naruto is ongoing, but unsuccessful. Its been years now. Suna is not doing well, and Gaara is failing as a jinchuuriki. One last effort is made to see if Gaara can control himself, and it fails with Yashamaru in critical condition. Nagi locks himself and Gaara into a training, and after he lectures him he has a sort of has a mental breakdown and passes out. Chapter Three: Orenji Suna Nagi and Gaara are locked in the training room, where he ends up starving himself as motivation to get his son better control. He passes out (from fatigue this time), and Gaara breaks out of the training room and brings his dad to the hospital, where he meets a lady named Tsunade. She saves his dad, Naruto makes a cameo as a glitter angel to the Kazekage, and Tsunade lectures Nagi and bemoans the stupidity of the males in the Sabaku clan. Tsunade unknowingly meets Naruto, and has the gut feeling to pass on her knowledge to her (and her necklace), and Gaara ends up meeting her too and with her indirect help makes friends. Chapter Four: The Desert Prince Naruto finally enters the picture, living on her own and being an Academy student. Shes strangely popular, and in the midst of studiously practicing seals and medical jutsubut ignoring the Academy work. Good news? She takes the Genin Exam early and passes. Nagi finally finds out where shes been, as well as the fact that shes actually a girl, and puts her on Gaaras team. Kankuro freaks out about the third member of his squad, and hopes this Naruto isnt a loser. Temari enlightens him on The Desert Princes reputation, and Kankuros brain is close to melting. Chapter Five: Team Kickass, Assemble! Team Baki meet finally, and Kankuro is shocked to meet Naruto and find out shes a girl. Gaara uneasily thinks shes familiar, but keeps that to himself. Kankuro christens them Team Kickass! and they go on their first D-rankwhich is way far from Konoha D-ranks as you can get, as they have to go eliminate a small colony of Sand Scorpions that have been alarmingly multiplying. Though they initially have trouble, they eventually complete their mission. Baki reports to an eager Nagi, who wants to know how the team is, particularly about Naruto. Still not satisfied, he ends up seeking her out himself and meeting her under the guise of a regular shinobi.

Chapter Six: The Pitfalls of Teamwork Baki gets them training, trying to see what they can and cant do. All three suck at taijutsu. Suck. Really suck. Naruto is at least average, but Kankuro is more interested in staying back and manipulating his puppets, while Gaara prefers to be laid-back and stationary (and worse than the Kazekage in the stationary fighting form at least Baki remembers that Nagi was more than sufficient at taijutsu). Their genjutsu skills are abysmal. Naruto couldnt find her way out an illusion even if it was staring her right in the face, Kankuro had no skill noticing or breaking out of one, and Gaara and genjutsu shouldnt even be in a single sentence. Their ninjutsu was scattered. Gaara was proficient with his sand techniquesbut they didnt vary and he had nothing else. Kankuro was great with his puppetsbut he only had his puppets. Naruto was a bit more promising on this front as wellif only because she was proficient and other jutsu, such as Suna-brand Academy stuff (as well as the common E-ranks between all villagesthat neither Gaara or Kankuro bothered or cared to learn). They try teamwork training next and fall apart. Gaara is annoyingly stoic and hard to read, Kankuro is loud and has a huge ego, and Naruto is enviously and disgustingly so charming and smooth with people (and has a horrible ability to be able to talk circles around a person, and that person doesnt know or unable to do anything about it). He assigns them to find one jutsu or other for homework (bonus if they actually learn or can do it), as he slinks away in despair and blames and drowns in depression in front of Nagi after. Nagi nods along, before he successfully escapes and goes about meeting Naruto and ends up hear her version and about poor Baki-sensei. Chapter Seven: It Isnt Nice to Play With Your Rice In response to the homework, Gaara creates a sand monster, Kankuro promises to take up kenjutsu and learn Bakis wind sword technique, and Naruto successfully and finally completes the rasengan (but bemoans her utter lack of progress and failure with the Hiraishin). Kankuro is suitably impressed with the technique, Gaara is intrigued, and Baki is silently freaking out and wondering when she learned this jutsu-that-belonged-to-the-Fourth-of-another-village. He really, really hopes Konoha doesnt find out about this. After a few more D-ranks, they end up already taking a C-rank to the Land of Rice, retrieving a shipment for a Suna merchant. It goes easy, aside from the side trip of where Bakis genin get drunk, Gaara is in a stupor and mumbling incoherently, Kankuro likes to sing, and Naruto takes over a town. Baki doesnt actually know how things got to that point. Without delay, he takes his genin, hightails the hell out of there (before they can cause any more problems and/or be caught), and pretends nothing happened. Unknowingly, Naruto had burnt down a part of Otogakure on the way out of there. Orochimaru is not happy. Chapter Eight: When the Wolves Come Howlin A few more D-ranks and C-ranks go by, and Team Baki have to accompany the Kazekage to the Wind Capital. Naruto is not impressed with the Wind Daimyo at all. She expresses her loud displeasure at him to Nagi, and tells him the Kazekage shouldnt have to deal with the likes of that guy, still not knowing Nagi is the Kazekage. To keep herself busy and to keep from snapping at the Wind Daimyo, she focuses on continuing to try to get Hiraishin, playing around with creating more Seals, and maintain her chakra control (cause she knows itll suck if she doesnt). Politics go around behind the scene in the meanwhile, and a sudden attack on the Capital by rebels causes Team Baki to get employed and have to quietly take them down.

Chapter Nine: Maligned Bridges On the way back from the Wind Capital, they end up in Nami. Tazuna had just been about to go to Konoha when they arrived, and instead pleads for their help. Deciding that it could be beneficial to Suna, Nagi agrees and Team Baki are eager for another high-class mission. They scout territory, hunt down bases, and make a plan of attack. Naruto gets to enlist into Gatos army, successfully infiltrates and meets Zabuza and Haku. By the time she gets them the layout and everything (and obtains all of Gatos assets), they finally invade the bases and take out every bandit and low-class ninja around. Naruto lets Zabuza and Haku go. Chapter Ten: Sand Storm A dangerous and destructive sand storm comes Sunas way. As the village prepares to weather it, Nagi visits Naruto in worry and wonders if shell be okay. The storm comes in sooner than expected and he gets trapped in her apartment with her. There, she finally finds out that hes actually the Kazekage, and she freaks out and becomes upset by the deception. When he finally soothes her, she starts worrying about her insubordinate actions and is embarrassed as she remembers all the things shed said and admitted to him in the past. He also ends up telling her about her parents, how and why she got to Suna, and that hed been looking for her all these years (and that hed embarrassingly missed her because her overlooked gender). He tells her why hed been looking for her and why hed kept who he was a secret until then, and ends up asking if shed like to move in with him and his family.
