BACKGROUND OF COMPANY
Ion exchange (India) limited is a leading water treatment company in India. IEI pioneered in India is one of few companies in the world with a range of technologies, products & services that covers the entire spectrum of water treatment. The head quarter in Mumbai & have wide network in India & abroad. The product is marketed through regional offices & branch offices located in all major cities of India. Manufacturing units are located at Ankleshwar, Patacheru, Hosur, Rabale & Goa.

The product range of company includes ION India Resins & related products, water & waste water treatment plants, Boiler & cooling water treatment, Chemicals, sugar chemicals, polymers & Zero-B household products (zero bacteria purifier) etc. Company is mainly catering goods & services to petro-chemicals, power projects, fertilizer, pharma, textiles, food processing & water purifiers and instrumentation and chemicals used for monitoring measuring and to improve and maintain water quality. The products are marketed in India & also exported to U.S.A, U.K & other countries in Asia & Africa. The Ion exchange resin unit produces the Complete range of gel, isoporous & macroporous cation and anion exchange resins for water and waste water treatment as well as speciality applications in pharmaceutical and chemical industry. ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 certified fully automated manufacturing facility at Ankleshwar. FDA (India) approved pharmaceutical grade resin manufacturing facility.

Anlkeshwar unit The company manufacturing Ion exchange resins & related products since 1965. Ankleshwar unit established in the year 1993 & manufacturing wide range of water treatment, pharmaceutical grade resins & other special application. The unit has manufacturing capacity of 6500 m3 of Ion exchange resins & 150 mt of Pharma Grade resins annually. Processes are controlled through programmable logic controller with employee strength of 75. The product

range is marketed under the brand name of INDION Ion exchangers i.e Anion, Cation & pharma Grade resins. Ion exchange (India) ltd is a public ltd company.

Companys core business relates to water, an increasingly scarce & precious resource; essential for all human activity & for life itself. Company treats water to meet requirement of society- for uses in homes, by communities, by industry, in agriculture. Company provide total solutions that purify water, conserve it by recycle, recover valuable products for reuse minimize the discharge of the pollutants in to our seas, rivers & lakes & reduce the load on the regenerative capacity of the environment.

YEAR 1996 1967 1971 1974 1978 1982 DESCRIPTION Ion exchange incorporated R & D sets up at Ambernath standard plants, ion Exchangers non standard. 50,000 bonus shares issued in prop. 1:5. 1,00,000 bonus shares issued in prop. 1:3. The Ion Exchange became the first company in India to apply reverse Osmosis as a complementary Process. The company diversifying in to chemical additivies for boiler & cooling water treatment in collaboration with Grace 1983 Dearborn of U.S.A The Introduction of condensate polish1983 - On 25th February, manufacture of water treatment chemicals was started at Patancheru near Hyderabad in Andhra 1987 1988 Pradesh. 9,82,570 shares issued in conversion of debentures in Nov. ION EXCHANGE entering in to polymer manufacture with the setting up of polyelectrolyte India Ltd, a joint venture 1991 company with SNF Floerger of france. The company entered in to marketing tie-up with Rohm & Haas France S.A; for the range of resins & polymeric 1994 absorbents. A joint venture company viz. Dearborn IEI India Pvt. Ltd. Was formed with Grace Dearborn Inc. USA a leading company in the water treatment chemicals field. The Company also entered into collaboration agreements with Elga Ltd. UK and US Filter/Permutit Inc. USA in the field of 1997 water treatment. ION EXCHANGE entered the field of waste Management & energy generation through Ion exchange Demag Pvt Ltd; a

joint venture with Mannesman Demang of Germany. ION EXCHANGE entered in to tie-up for Mircofilters with porker Hannifir U.S.A Members approved for to delist shares from Delhi stock exchange. (Table 1.1)

Brief explanation of process of Cation Styrene / DVB ( Divinyle Benzene)

These two types of raw materials are used in the process of cation. Polymer beads Process Catalyst Styrene Reaction At the first stage of the process; styrene & DVB are used as a raw material. The process of polymerization takes place at 80c temperature in the ractor. then material is passed in the other ractor. The material is washed with process water for removing unnecessary particles. At the stage of drying & screening the beads are being first dried in the dryer machine for removing the moisture from the further process in screening machine. In this machine the beads are separated as per the size. At last the polymer beads are ready then it will send for further process. Sulphonation Polymer beads

In the process of Sulphonation the polymer beads are added with acid & oleum & then the standard beads are Prepared & this material is passed to other ractor for cooling. The ractor is cooled up at some level. Dilution

After the adding the oleum in the material the next process is to dilute the material for removing the acid contain particles.

ABC Analysis used for inventory management. ABC analysis used for both type of inventory management those are raw material & finished goods.

Co-ordination between
a) Store & Production Production department gives monthly schedule & requirement of raw material to the purchase department & store department keeps stock as per requirement. Store department issue the raw-material to production department & keep the records of issue. b) Dispatch & Production Dispatch also helps the production for know the delivery time of goods & how much the quantity should be produced. c) Purchase & Production Production department always keep contact with Purchase department for requirement of raw material & timely give order of raw material to purchase department. Production department gives monthly order of requirement to purchase department. d) Engineering & Production Engineering unit perform mechanical work. If any mechanical abnormality or problems are found in production plan engineering unit immediately helps the production plan. As per schedule; the engineering check & maintain the machinery to avoid delay & disturbance.

HUMAN RESOURCE PLANNING, RECRUITMENT & SELECTION


Process of Human Resource Planning

First of all analysis the organizational strategy & remove the hurdles; anticipate Manpower requirements. In which department the manpower is required. For how much time the Manpower is required like Full time, part time etc. In which Grades & category of employees are required. Nature of work, complexity, criticality of work is also seen. Take the review of departments about the requirement of skilled & unskilled persons. Identified the source of getting manpower. Decided the Methods & Techniques Recruitment. Fore casting Demand for human resource. Identified the gaps of Manpower by comparing demand forecasts & supply forecasts.

Recruitment & Selection Process Requirement of human resource is collected from different departments. Collect the details about the necessary skill, qualification, experience is required from the candidates. Number of employees required in departments. Used the Internal & External source of recruitment Collect the bio data of candidates. Scrutinizes the bio-data with required skills, qualification & other characteristic. Take the Review of Manager of Department. Identified the prospective candidates Calling the candidates for primary interview Primary interview of the candidates is conducted

Then followed the short listing process & identified the suitable candidate Asking for fill the application blank Secondary interview of candidates is conducted Take the review of the departmental managers & both the HR manager & departmental managers are agree then go for further procedure

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL SYSTEM FOR DIFFERENT LEVEL


Performance Appraisal system is same for all level of employees. 75% of weight age is given to KRA (Key result Area) & 25% of weight age is given to discipline. Discipline includes the time accuracy communication, interpersonal relational ship, regularity etc & 10 -10 marks is given to each. 1, 2 & 3 grades are given to who get marks between 6o above, 60 -80, below 60 respectively.

PROMOTION POLICY
Promotion is given to employees as per the performance appraisal system. Promotion is given to employees on the basis of performance.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT INCLUDING FEEDBACK PROCESS


Training process Training needs of persons working for on behalf of the organization are identified & imparted as & when required. HR & administration In charge reviews the training needs in consultation with works manager & finalized the yearly training plan & faculty for the training. HR & Administration in charge organized training programmes based on monthly training plan. To identify requirements of organization To identify the critical areas where training is to be given on priority basis To prepare the groups of employees or batches of employees for providing training To contact with outside agencies for the training programme in company premises, if necessary. Retraining is given to required employees with the others employees in next training or rearranges the training programme for employees, if possible.

WAGE & SALARY STRUCTURE


Salary structure In all departments, there is a grade system of all level employees. Three grades (1, 2, 3) are given to employees & as per the grade system salary, authority & responsibility of employees are decided. Salary structure contains the following Basic + DA HRA Education allowance Special allowance

Wage structure Requirement of labour is fulfilled through contractor. Contractor provides both skilled & unskilled labours to organization. Weekly wage, Daily wage, Monthly wage is given to labour as per the type of work. Piece wage system & time wage system, both are used for payment of wages to labour as per the type of work.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research Design

I have chosen the Descriptive study & under this I adopted survey method. As detail information is required for the study of employees retention. Research Plan There are two types of research study that is census study & sample study. I have chosen the sample study.

Sources Of Data The data collected is primary in nature. The responses of employees were taken through questionnaire.

Data Collection Method For the collection of data, questionnaire was used.

Sample size 31 employees are covered in the study. Employees are selected randomly.

FINDING

The existing working culture of the organization is suitable to the employees Almost all employees are satisfied with welfare facility given by the organization Organization provides enough opportunities to their employees to their career Motivation from the superiors & proper guidance encourage the employees to work in organization Work distribution is satisfactory aspect some department The relation between the employees & employers are friendly & co - operative Proper communication channel followed in the organization Organization gives proper training & guidance to their employees to perform the job in better way Management provides full freedom & flexibility for doing their job Majority of employees are satisfied with safety precaution provided to employees All employee are satisfied with organization promotion method used by

CONCLUSION

As per the analysis & findings, it can be satisfied with organization culture, working system & work condition. Majority of employees are satisfied with welfare facilities provided to them

So it can be conclude that the culture of the organization, work environment, working system, communication, industrial relationship, promotion policy, welfare facilities are not responsible for leaving the organization by employees
