Structural Analysis: a quick look at the methodology Structural analysis is the determination of the effects of loads in physical structures

like buildings, bridges, vehicles, furniture, machinery, biological tissues etc. and their components. Structure analysis is actually derived from Structuralism which is the methodological principle that human culture is made up of systems in which change in any element; do creates changes in the others. We will discuss in detail about this kind of analysis of structures in the following paragraph of our content. Types of structural engineering analysis: There are basically seven types of analysis which you can perform to determine the effects of loads on physical structures and their components. They basic types of analysis of structure are listed below. Static analysis: used to determine displacements, stresses etc under static loading conditions. Modal analysis: used to calculate the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a structure. Harmonic analysis: used to determine the response of a structure to harmonically time-varying loads. Transient dynamic analysis: used to determine the response of a structure to arbitrarily timevarying loads. Spectrum analysis: used to calculate the stress and strains due to a response spectrum Buckling analysis: used to calculate the buckling loads and determine the buckling mode shape Explicit dynamic analysis: used to calculate fast solutions for large deformation dynamics and complex content problems. Various Analytical methods of Structured Analysis: A structural civil engineer must determine structural loads, geometry, support conditions and material properties; so as to perform a perfect and accurate analysis of a structure. There are three basic approaches to Structural analysis. They are: 1. The Mechanics of materials approach: The mechanics of material approach is a subject which deals with the behavior of objects withstanding stress and strains. 2. The elasticity theory approach: The elasticity theory approach is the mathematical study of how solid object deform and become internally stressed due to prescribed loading conditions. 3. The finite element analysis approach: This type of analytical approach is a numerical technique to find approximate solutions to partial differential equations (PDE) and their system as well as integrated equation. In simple words, it can be said that FEA structural analysis is a method for dividing up a very complicated problem into small elements that can be solved in relation to each other. Structural functional analysis: It is a system of analysis of social phenomena and processed viewed as parts of a structurally arranged whole, Where each structural element has a definite function.

Structural Frame analysis: Frames are the structures with at least one multi-force member where at least one member has 3 or more forces acting on it at different points. This frame analysis involves determining external reactions and internal forces at the joints. Merits and demerits of Structural analysis: The major benefit of this kind of analysis is that it enables awareness to fundamental structures and exposes their limiting and conditioning nature. However, this kind of analysis of structures does not enable analysis of the content, which is the greatest demerit of this type of analysis.
