INTRODUCTION OF DRUGS
Recreational drug use is incredibly common around the world and it very often leads to disaster and crime. To resolve this, some people advocate a liberal approach to legalization, while others support a strong government police drive war on the sale and use of drugs. There is no single, precise definition, as there are different meanings in drug control law, government regulations,medicine, and colloquial usage. In pharmacology, a drug is "a chemical substance used in the treatment, cure, prevention, or diagnosis of disease or used to otherwise enhance physical or mental well-being."Drugs may be prescribed for a limited duration, or on a regular basis for chronic disorders. The molecules of drugs are complex, and most of them consist of many hydrogen and carbon atoms, a few oxygen atoms, and one or a few nitrogen atoms. Drugs may also have no nitrogen atoms in it and many may have chlorine atoms in it, such as chloral hydrate. Recreational drug are chemical substances that affect the central nervous system, such as opium or hallucinogens. They may be used for perceived beneficial effects on perception, consciousness, personality, and behavior.Some drugs can cause addiction and/or habituation. Drugs are usually distinguished from endogenous biochemicals by being introduced from outside the organism. For example, insulin is a hormone that is synthesized in the body; it is called a hormone when it is synthesized by the pancreas inside the body, but if it is introduced into the body from outside, it is called a drug. Many natural substances, such as beers, wines, and psychoactive mushrooms, blur the line between food and recreational drugs, as when ingested they affect the functioning of both mind and body and some substances normally considered drugs such as DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) are actually produced by the human body in trace amounts.

In general drugs help people to maintain a quality life. Without certain drugs to help with medical ailments a persons quality of life can be greatly reduced or even non existent due to imminent death. On the other hand some of the side effects can be more than a person can handle and the drug is doing more damage than good. So you really have to weigh your decision on certain drugs.Drug are consider medicine. It is one of the most important necessity to all of us. It is derived from the Latin words ars medicina meaning "the art of healing". It is a branch of the health sciences and is the sector of public life concerned with maintaining or restoring human health through the study, diagnosis, treatment and possible prevention of disease, injury and other damage to a body or mind. It is both an area of knowledge, a science of body system and their diseases and treatment. This branch of science encompasses treatment by drugs, diet, exercise and other nonsurgical means. It is also used to maintain our health. An agent such as drug is used to treat disease or injury. There are different types of medicine, we have herbal medicine, which came from different kinds of plants, medicines treat in hospital and etc. Herbal medicine, also called botanical medicine or phytomedicine, refers to use of any plant's seeds, berries, roots, leaves, bark, or flowers for medicinal purposes. Long practiced outside of conventional medicine, herbalism is becoming more mainstreams as up-to-date analysis and research show their value in the treatment and prevention of disease. Some of us believe in herbal medicines, for it is pure came from plants and no other ingredients. Herbal medicine also uses for cough, fever, toothache and some other diseases that might catch from our environment. Herbalists treat many conditions such as asthma, eczema, premenstrual syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, migraine, menopausal symptoms, chronic fatigue, and an irritable bowel syndrome among others. Plants had been used for medicinal purposes long before recorded history. For most herbs, the specific ingredient that causes a therapeutic effect is not known. Whole herbs contain many ingredients and it is likely that they work together to produce the desired medicinal effect Some medicines may cause problems if you take them with other medicines. This is why it is important to tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking. And some medicines can cause problems, even if you take them correctly. Call your doctor or pharmacist if you think your medicine is making you feel worse. We take medicine to make us feel better when we are sick.

DISADVANTAGE OF DRUGS
First it will control your brain and you will get used to it. This however is not good, because, it affects your central nervous system and can eventually cause an early death. Drug abuse is the chronic addiction to any form of a drug and this can lead to various kinds of side effects and disadvantages. It has been seen that these forms of drug abuses can have an adverse effect on the health and appetite of the person and in extreme cases it can also lead to death. Over the years it has been seen that the use of illicit drugs like marijuana, cocaine and heroine can lead to various kinds of health problems.Also the overuse of prescription drugs has been responsible for creating serious medical complications and destroying many family lives and the teenagers and young people are particularly prone to excessive drug use. These teenagers succumb to the lure of drugs easily and they involve themselves in crime and accidents leading to poor performance in schools and society. Also large populations of the adults are also consuming these drugs in spite of knowing about the ill effects of these drugs and the risks that are involved in consuming them. Basically these drugs were taken for overcoming symptoms of aging, relieving stress and emotional problems. But it should be remembered that over consuming them would only lead to added health problems. These drugs, if taken, during pregnancy, can also lead to birth defects and the baby may show physical, mental, social and behavioral problems in future. Statistics reveal that estimates, about 40 percent of American adults have used an illegal drug at some stage in their life.One of the most common side effects of these drugs is the bipolar disorder, which is the occurrence of one or more maniac episodes. This is a chronic condition as patients suffering from one maniac episode tend to have more episodes in the future. If there is no proper treatment given for the same on time then this can lead to about four episodes in about ten years and these include disadvantages like patterns of mood swings with depression and manic episodes.Also most of the individualistic tend to repeat this again and again and various researches indicate that the disorder is caused due to genetic influence. But the most common cause of the bipolar disorder is drug or alcohol abuse. The patients tend to abuse drug and alcohol in order to get relief through self medication or to stabilize their mood swings. It has also been seen that patients with bipolar disorder are more prone to substance use. These patients also tend to be eleven times more prone to alcohol abuse or drug abuse as compared to the general population and their choices of drugs include cocaine and amphetamines followed by marijuana. Such patients have fear side-effects due to mix up of drugs and this also results in extreme conditions of psychological effects among patients of this disorder. It should be remembered that drug abuse and bipolar disorder is a serious problem as usage of drugs lead to psychoactive effects on the brain and this can also aggravate the disorder. It is best to be aware about the preventive and curative information about these kinds of drug abuses to prevent them from happening.

METHAMPHETAMINE ADVANTAGE
Certainly depends on the user. The effects reported to be generally positive usually revolve around its decrease of fatigue and increased stamina. A decreased perception for food and sleep are generally productive. I have also heard a great number of people praise meth for its libido enhancing properties (although i have heard pothers claim meth does the opposite). Of course the high is itself an advantage. Meth can put one in a very productive mindset and they may accomplish a lot while under the influence of the drug. These are generally the reasons people take methamphetamine. But it must be kept in mind that meth is a legal prescribed drug for use in ADHD and obesity, As such it has legitimate medical functions and there are times where using meth can save ones life. Meth is a potent bronchodilator and is very effective in treating airway constriction for asthma (much like its precursor, ephedrine). Treatment in beta-blocker overdose. Can be used to treat overdoses on depressants (but not as a direct antidote simply by waking them up and keeping them breathing). Meths roles in medicine are limited and it is generally used as a last resort due to its vast array of side effects and its potential for abuse. DISADVANTAGE
Continued use of Meth does more than destroy a person's ability to experience pleasure naturally. Chronic use can create a tolerance for the drug, leading a person to try to intensify the desired effects by taking increasingly higher doses, taking it more frequently or changing their method of getting high. To support their habit, Meth users often participate in spur-of-the-moment crimes such as burglaries. Under the influence of Meth, people become agitated and feel wired. Their behavior becomes unpredictable from moment to moment. They may start doing the same thing over and over, like taking apart and reassembling bits of machinery, or continuously picking at imaginary bugs under their skin.

COCAINE ADVANTAGE

DISADVANTAGE
Perceived physical disadvantages (unpleasant physical effects, bad for health, creates bad physical condition and creates physical dependence) are mentioned 118 times. Three of these four are in the top ten. Disadvantages that relate to psychological effects are mentioned 115 times (creates psychological dependence, makes one egocentric, makes one aggressive, makes one feel depressed, makes one feel negative, makes one speedy, gives megalomaniac feelings, makes one superficial, makes insensitive and gives paranoid feelings). It varies from disease to disease but drug have lots of disadvantages if you use them improperly. But if you have health problem you must use drugs because dealing with some health problems is more important then other influences that drugs have. For example, you have Ventolin that helps people with bronchospasms (lungs problem) but the disadvantage of Ventolin is bad influence on heart and vessels. They use it to cure their lung problem but in the meantime they make another problem.

MARIJUANA ADVANTAGE
There is a lot of unfounded rhetoric that states smoking pot can cause lung cancer because your inhaling smoke, like cigarettes. This simply isnt true. Cigarette smoke causes cancer because the tobacco is radiated whereas marijuana isnt. In fact, the American Association for Cancer Research has found the marijuana actually works to slow down tumor growth in the lungs, breasts, and brain considerably. Marijuana is a muscle relaxant and has antispasmodic qualities which have proven to be a very effective treatment of seizures. There are actually countless cases of people suffering from seizures that have only been able to function better through the use of marijuana. Marijuanas effects on multiple sclerosis patients became better documented when former talk-show host, Montel Williams began to use pot to treat his MS. Marijuana works to stop the neurological effect and muscle spasms that come from the fatal disease. Marijuana has shown that it can help with symptoms with chronic disease as it stops nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Despite what you may have heard about marijuanas effects on the brain, the Scripps Institute, in 2006, proved that the thc found in marijuana works in preventing alzheimer's disease by blocking the deposits in the brain that cause the disease.

DISADVANTAGE
Long-term usage of marijuana may lead to addiction. This has harmful effects on social relationships with family, work, school and entertaining activities. It causes sleeplessness, decreased taste, bad temper and anxiety all of which make it hard to quit. Excessive use of marijuana causes depression, anxiety, suicidal desire and schizophrenia. Chronic use of marijuana, especially in youngsters causes risk of mental illness, vulnerability, and exposure to violence. The heart beat rate after abusing marijuana is increased by 20 to 80 percent and this effect can last for over 3 hours. Increased tolerance to marijuana, physiological addiction ,psychological dependency, Increased anxiety after the metabolism of recent use ,Irritability, short fuse before the onset of rage paranoia, psychosis, increased chance of a range of cancers

BARBITURATES ADVANTAGE
Reducing anxiety, not curing neurotic behavior, is the one primary purpose of these drugs. Most psychiatrists refer to the benzodiazepines as antiantiety agents (anxiolytics). For a typical general practitioner, about half of the patients have NO treatable physical ailment. Because of the possibility of tolerance, dependency, rebound insomnia, and hangover effects, the use of hypnotic drugs has decreased - they are usually taken for only a few nights at a time. Barbiturates and benzodiazepines are often used for the control of epileptic seizures . Barbiturates in high doses are used for physician assisted suicide (PAS), and in combination with a muscle relaxent for euthansia and for capital punishment by lethal injection. Thiopental is an ultra-short acting barbiturate that is marketed under the name sodium pentothal. It is often mistaken for "truth serum" or sodium amytal, an intermediate-acting barbiturate that is used for sedation and to treat insomnia, but was also used in so-called sodium amytal "interviews" where the person being questioned would be much more likely to provide the truth whilst under the influence of this drug. When dissolved in water, sodium amytal can be swallowed, or it can be administered by intravenous injection. The drug does not itself force people to tell the truth, but is thought to decrease inhibitions, making subjects more likely to be caught off guard when questioned.

In addition, nursing mothers who take barbiturates may transmit the drug to their babies through breast milk.

WAYS TO PREVENT DRUG ADDICTION


Effectively deal with peer pressure. The biggest reason teens start using drugs is because their friends utilize peer pressure. No one likes to be left out, and teens (and yes, some adults, too) find themselves doing things they normally wouldnt do, just to fit in. In these cases, you need to either find a better group of friends that wont pressure you into doing harmful things, or you need to find a good way to say no. Teens should prepare a good excuse or plan ahead of time,to keep from giving into tempting situations. Deal with life pressure. People today are overworked and overwhelmed, and often feel like a good break or a reward is deserved. But in the end, drugs only make life more stressful and many of us all too often fail to recognize this in the moment. To prevent using drugs as a reward, find other ways to handle stress and unwind. Take up exercising, read a good book, volunteer with the needy, create something. Anything positive and relaxing helps take the mind off using drugs to relieve stress. Seek help for mental illness. Mental illness and substance abuse often go hand-in-hand. Those with a mental illness may turn to drugs as a way to ease the pain. Those suffering from some form of mental illness, such as anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress disorder should seek the help of a trained professional for treatment before it leads to substance abuse. Examine the risk factors. If youre aware of the biological, environmental and physical risk factors you possess, youre more likely to overcome them. A history of substance abuse in the family, living in a social setting that glorifies drug abuse and/or family life that models drug abuse can be risk factors. Keep a well-balanced life. People take up drugs when something in their life is not working, or when theyre unhappy about their lives or where their lives are going. Look at lifes big picture, and have priorities in order. Practice Healthier Living Habits Exercise, eating well, meditation are excellent ways for you avoid using drugs or alcohol. Quite often, the results you feel from living a healthier lifestyle will help you resist the temptation to use drugs or alcohol to escape. A healthy body assists in coping with daily stress. If you have practiced living healthy and managing stress, a trauma can more easily be managed.

SOCIAL
Up until the late 1990s the main means for tackling drug addiction was enforced rehabilitation in detention centers. This approach has not been successful and now other means of dealing with the problem are being considered. These Guidelines are intended to provide guidance to employers and employees to develop prevention responses to drug and alcohol problems in the workplace and to satisfy their obligations under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994. Many forms of drug use can cause problems in the workplace. These can include use of legal drugs, such as alcohol, illicit drugs such as heroin or cannabis, abuse of prescribed and non-prescribed medication (e.g. antidepressants and cough medicine) appropriate use of medications (while medicines are often used as intended, they may carry side effects that can cause risk in the workplace) and abuse of other substances (e.g. solvents). Alcohol, both condoned and prohibited, may be a risk and strategies need to be in place to prevent and respond to problems from alcohol use. Illicit drug use is totally prohibited in Malaysia and can result in problems at work. Such use is totally unacceptable and should be prevented in the workplace. In these Guidelines, the term drugs and alcohol will be used to refer to all these forms of drug use. The Guidelines refer to employer and employee obligations under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (1994) the Employment Act (1955) and Drug Laws relating to illicit drug use.

POLITIC
In term of politic government has introduce some laws such as Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 This is the major legislation relating to Malaysian drug control. The Act has been revised several times in relation to changes in patterns of drug use. This Act includes the death penalty for drug trafficking. Poisons Act 1952 This Act is aimed at controlling the import, possession, sale and use of poisons. This includes any mixture, preparation, solution or natural product. This includes products used in industry, medicine and agriculture. Drug Dependents (Treatment and Rehabilitation Act) 1983 This is a comprehensive piece of legislation covering treatment and rehabilitation. The Act provides for compulsory treatment and rehabilitation of any person who has been certified as drug dependent as well as for the establishment and implementation of voluntary treatment programs. The period of compulsory treatment and rehabilitation (i.e. not voluntary) at a gazetted Rehabilitation Centre is for a period of two years and thereafter to undergo supervision for two years or undergo supervision by an officer. Dangerous Drugs (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985 This Act empowers the Government to detain anyone suspected of being a trafficker without having to bring the suspect to a court of law. ECONOMY

Drug abuse is closely associated with domestic abuse. Economically drug addiction by abuser cause more loss to government which due to steps taken to prevent addiction. It ties up a chunk of law enforcement resources. The battle against drug addiction has been an expensive project and it ia a drain on available health care resources. Not only this drug users harm the economy due to loss productivity. Those who are able to hold down a job will be less productive as a result of their addiction and they may need to take frequent sick days. Money that could be spend on improving life for a family will be wasted because one of them is a drug addict. The family of a substances abuser may be living on poverty line while this individual wastes a small fortune feeding their habits. Drug abuse ravages communities. It can get so bad that people are afraid to leave their homes after dark. The demands for these illegal substances feeds the criminal underworld. The money made from selling drugs is often used to finance further crime and fund terrorism.
