BNL Guide to Installation of ANSWERv5 for MARKAL Training

First, copy AnswerV5Installation folder from the System CD into your computers C: drive. Then to carry out a new installation of ANSWERv5 (the multi-region version of ANSWER) proceed as follows. NOTE: You may find that the installation process needs to reboot your PC in order to upgrade certain files that are currently in use. 1. Close all currently running applications, and be sure to close the Microsoft Office Taskbar (which interferes with a Visual Basic installation). 2. Bring up Windows Explorer and double-click on the file Setup.exe in folder C:\AnswerV5Installation. This brings up the InstallShield Wizard and a splash screen displaying the ABARE logo and ANSWER, MARKAL Energy Modelling for Windows as follows:

3. Click on the [Next>] button. This brings up the following:

5. If you agree to accept the terms of the license agreement, click on the I accept the terms in the license agreement radio button, and click on the [Next>] button. This brings up the following:

You should use the default of C:\ANSWERv5. 6. Click on the [Next>] button. This brings up the following:

7. Click on the [Install] button. Installation of ANSWER will commence, and terminate with the following:

8. Click on the [Finish] button. 9. Copy Microsoft Access file Training_TNU.mdb from the System CD to C:\AnswerV5\Answer_Databases

Uninstalling ANSWERv5
To uninstall ANSWERv5: 1. 2. Choose Settings/Control Panel from the Start menu and then double-click on Add/Remove Programs Highlight ANSWERv5 and then click on the Add/Remove button. The sequence of screens that appears depends on the operating system that you are running, and is not shown here.
