Feedback Introduction- [5 mins] Icebreaker 1 : The Stinger Uzho What are Boundaries? What are the different types of boundaries? How do we set boundaries/ and the importance of setting Activity 1# : Advancing Boundaries [15 mins] Isy Instructions: Divide participants into dyads. Make sure that you have a large room with uninterrupted space. Ask each dyad to stand about 20 feet apart. Tell participant A to begin walking slowly towards Participant B, without making any noise. When Participant B feels that Participant A has come as close as his/her boundaries allow, s/he must put up his/her hand firmly in front of them and say "Stop!" loudly, at which point Participant A will freeze and stand still. Then they switch roles. It is easier to model this than to explain. It is often surprising how quickly hands go up to say "Stop!" Questions to consider: Did you say "Stop!" at the time that you thought you would? Uzho How did it feel to actually create your own boundary with someone? Ronique How did it feel to respect someone else's boundary? Isy How are boundaries established in the workplace? Isy SUMMARY: This activity gives to how boundaries are not always clearly known to others unless we communicate it to one another. However, this activity also shows that we often may let others cross our personal boundaries because we are not sure what to do in that moment. Or may let others cross our personal boundaries within the workplace because we are afraid to jeopardize our position. Isy Activity 2#: Group Discussion [20 mins in groups] Ronique Instructions: We will have a flipcharts of paper, and then get the class to get into groups and discuss the following questions: Each question try to relate it to placement situations that have uprised or other boundary situations you have faced. 1. Where have you had to set personal boundaries? Or professional boundaries? 2. In that situation where you able to follow through successfully? If not why not? 3. How do we disengage when your personal boundaries are being broken? Boundaries and priorities? ( Do they go hand in hand?)

CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING: Adding co-workers and your supervisors to social media sites. Problems that May arise with improperly set boundaries. (workplace gossip, tension with supervisors /co-workers The need for boundaries between a supervisor and placement student. Going out with supervisor for lunch/dinner etc. Yes? , No .? Maybe ?
