Notes taken Magazine and Billboard designs: Overall they were impressed with our ideas. There are just a few things that they would like to change. Firstly, the clients would like the people on the magazine article in normal civilian clothing rather than uniform. In the background for the magazine, we have a blurred out navy ship but the clients would like it a little clearer to people can actually make out what the image is at first glance. As for the billboard, the clients thought the white background was slightly too harsh and takes the attention away from the actual people and information on it so would like a more natural colour for the background of the billboard. They also werent so keen on the way the people/actors were standing on the billboard so when we actually go out to shoot some pictures, we will have them in different stances so theres a range of images to choose from for both the billboard and magazine.

Web Banner: Our initial ideas were discussed with our clients using storyboards, pictures and a slideshow. They were really pleased with the creativity of the initial idea. Many things were discussed during this meeting including the animation of the web banner. Weve decided that the final screen of the web banner should be interactive. This will include turning the Twitter, Facebook and the Royal Navy logo into hyperlinks. This will allow our audience to click on these pictures and this will direct them to the webpages. We also discussed possible photos and quotes that would feature in our web banner. Our initial idea was to have a young girl who craves adventure progress on to joining the navy, ending with her at an awards ceremony. Our clients pointed out that they would prefer for all the images to be positive rather than beginning with the girl bored and leading a dull life. This has now been resolved with the help of our clients. We have now constructed a new and improved idea. This idea is to have a young woman who has just joined the Navy and is very excited about the journey ahead. The quote that comes up on screen will read Ive just joined the navy and Im looking forward to the journey ahead. Ambient Media: Some changes were made to details regarding the lift after showing our clients some pictures of the types of imagery we intended to use inside the lift to make it feel like a ship. As a form of ambient media, our clients were impressed with the idea but had concerns that this would cause to lift to feel a bit too dark and claustrophobic if we were to use the imagery of ropes, chains and anchors as initially intended. They instead suggested using the bow of a ship and including a blue sky with clouds and open seas to make it seem lighter, brighter and bigger. They also were impressed with our idea to use bathroom mirrors to give people the feeling of trying on the Navy Uniform. They suggested using a play on words with the words suit by including the phrase Suits You above it. We all agreed we liked this idea and intend to include it in the finished advert. 50 Second Advert: We discussed many topics about the advertisement such as; how we will portray the ad, when we will publish it, what we should consider about the advertisement with the size and colour. In detail we discussed mostly about when we should publish the cinema advertisement. We came to the conclusion that the cinema advertisement would be published to the public a week after the ambient and two weeks after the magazine and bill board. We thought this would be the best option so their advertisements would be published across a three week period. We also discussed the gender of the advertisement. We came up with many ideas on how to show both genders, male and female. We decided that using ECU shots of their feet running, their hands reaching out, and their mouth. We thought this would be one way on how to indicate that anyone can sign up without discrimination. Our clients also asked us if we could create a rough edit for our next meeting (07/06/13) so they can see our progress so far and see if there is anything which they would like to change or add.

Conclusion Overall I feel the meeting was successful. Many ideas were discussed and our clients seemed happy with most of the material we had brought to show them as examples. They also had many good suggestions which have been noted and will be used in the final products.

We plan to have much more material ready to show our clients in the next meeting, including mock-ups of the magazine and billboard designs and ambient media ideas, and a rough cut of the 50 second advert.
