QUESTION & ANSWER
T: Qual é a cor da casa?
S: A casa é vermelha?
T: Continues to ask questions "Qual é a cor da ...."
S. Respond with one of the focus vocabulary from
the presentation. "O chapeu é azul."
Color Lesson Part 3
Student Practice using Plate Ball
For practice, students will divide into small groups
or partners. Using the plate ball, covered with
pictures of items used in the slide show, students
will ask the question for the picture on which they
land or flip to.
Student 1: Throws the ball to Student 2.
Student 2: Looking at the picture on which
appears, then asks the "Qual é a cor..." question.
Student 1: Responds with the correct answer.
Student 2: Throws the ball to Student 1 and then
the game continues until a question for every item
has been asked
at least once.
Warm-up: generating interest
Part 1
Teacher asks for knowledge of colors in Portuguese.
Practice:
Color Lesson Part 4
Language: "Eu tenho um/a...."
"Quem é que tem...."
1. Reviewing slide show and items, teacher uses
items in the "I have" form while holding up the
picture.
"Eu tenho uma casa vermelha."
"Eu tehno um chapéu azul." etc.
2. Passing out the pictures, Teacher now asks,
"Quem é que tem a casa vermelha?"
3. The student with the picture responds with the
"Eu tenho ...."
4. Teacher asks for each item and students
responds.
5. Once every item has been the folded cards will
be passed out throughout the class. Teacher
begins with reading the inside of his/her folded
card. Ex: "Quem é que tem um gato branco?"
6. The students who has the correct response on
their folded card will reply with, "Eu tenho um gato
branco?" Then opens his/her card and reads
question inside.
If done correctly, there will be a complete
rotation ending with the first person who asked a
question.
Evaluation: student performance
Students respond correctly to T’s questions and prompts, and identify the colors
correctly after playing the cube game.
Teacher’s reflection on results:
Students worked very hard and enjoyed
the activity. The activity would lend
itself to other content areas and
further Portuguese lessons.
Expansion: lesson improvement
The lesson could have been improved by
having the students work in partners and
having more cubes so that more students
could be given more opportunities to speak.
Student could continue to orally compose
there own sentences using the structured
sentences.
