Be-Attitudes for Mothers
Blessed are the Mothers who love
God, for their children shall not be
ignorant of their Creator and His
plans concerning them.
Blessed are the Mothers who love
the word of God, for their children
shall know of the way, the truth and
the life.
Blessed are the Mothers who love
the house of God, for their children
shall enter there and sit with them in
the presence of God.
Blessed are the Mothers who love to
pray, for their children shall feel the
power of prayer and many shall find
salvation.
Blessed are the Mothers who love to
give to the cause of Christ, for their
children shall become supporters of
the Kingdom of God.
Blessed are the Mothers who love
the family altar, for they shall have
their reward in this world and in the
world to come.
Blessed are the Mothers who love to
speak kinds words to their
neighbor’s children, for thereby they
shall win another boys and girls
besides their own to Jesus Christ.
Blessed are the Mothers who love
to be companions to their chil-
dren, for they shall be called un-
derstanding Mothers.
Blessed are the Mothers who love
to fight life’s battles bravely with
a strong and steadfast faith in
God, for their children shall know
where to find strength in time of
need.
Blessed are the Mothers who,
when they are old and gray, can
look back upon memory’s wall
with no regret and can say, “I
brought my children up in the fear
of the Lord.” Theirs are the man-
sions in glory.

 Don’t you find it interesting
that even in His dying mo-
ments, Jesus was concerned
with His mother’s welfare? With all the horrors of
the past 24 hours—-praying with those sleeping disciples in
the Garden of Gethsemane, being arrested and falsely
charged, having no sleep, nothing to eat or drink, taken from
court to court, brutally tortured, made laughingstock, carrying
His own cross through the streets, being nailed to a cross, etc.,
etc.—-He could still look down from that cross and think of
His mother and her future!!

His mother had always stayed in the background throughout

Jesus’ public ministry. Yet at the very moment of His death,
Jesus asked John to care for His Mother! (John 19:25-27)
We can only marvel at His example of a truly caring Son!
With all He had been through, He was still caring about the
needs of someone else—-His earthly mother, the one God had
chosen to bear His Son and train Him up! Can we possibly be
that caring?

God truly rewards those who care. God will honor you if you
honor those who have taken care of you when you couldn’t
take care of yourself! You never grow too old to spend time
with your parents, to learn from their wisdom. Do you take
time to let them know how much you love them, how much
you appreciate what they’ve done in caring for you over the
years? Remember, one of God’s commandments is to “honor
your father and mother…” (Exodus 20:12).

 REST! SWEET REST!

OVERLOOKED! The Bible teach-
ing about “rest” is often overlooked.
The ideas of sleeping in, taking a
vacation, having a day off, or taking
an afternoon nap are viewed in a
negative light. This is especially true
if we have an over active Puritan
Work Ethic. To some, rest seems
like sin and we feel guilty about it.
Now, it is true, God intends for us to
work and work hard. No question,
there is in the Bible a strong work
ethic. Adam and Eve had work as-
signments even before they sinned.
Their jobs were to take care of the
animals (dominion over them) and to
tend (dress) the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 1:26, 2:15. After Adam
sinned he worked to eat (Genesis
3:19).
The Sabbath commandment implies
strongly that we should work during
the “work week”, as well as rest on
the 7th day. Notice there is a balance
between work and rest taught in the
4th commandment. Work is followed
by rest so we can work again. Let’s
look now at some Bible teachings
about rest.
MATTHEW 11:28-30
This wonderful promise of rest
teaches us to give our burdens to
Jesus and He will carry them for us.

MARK 6:31
The central idea of rest here is to slip
away from the crowds that some-
times crowd into our lives and over-
whelm us. Take a break! Take a
long week end off! Take an extra
day off! Take your vacation. Al-
ways take Jesus with you.
EXDOUS 20:8-11
Our Sabbath rest is all inclusive. In
our Sabbath rest we experience spiri-
tual, emotional, social, and physical
rest.
HEBREWS 4:10
Rest from your works of salvation
and rest in the works of Jesus for
your salvation.
REVELATION 14:13
When the Christian comes to the end of
life, he is given the blessing of rest-
ing in Jesus (sleeping in Jesus) until
the great resurrection morning which
happens at the second coming of
Jesus. This is why His second com-
ing is called the blessed hope. Think
of it! You fall asleep and rest. Your
next waking thought is Jesus and His
coming. So all of you who have been
diagnosed with an over active Puritan
Work Ethic gland it's OK to rest oc-
casionally.

 Congratulations to the young
members of our congregation who
are graduating! No doubt they look
forward to the next phase of their
lives with excitement, anticipation,
and perhaps a little apprehension.

We hope these words, adapted from Phillips Brooks, will serve

graduates well as they embark on their journeys:

“Do not pray for an easy life; pray to be a stronger

person. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers, but
for powers equal to your tasks. Then the doing of your
work shall be no miracle, but you will be the miracle.
Every day you shall wonder at yourself and the richness
of life which has come to you by the grace of God.”

Please remember that the Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 8th Grade

Graduation will be May 20th @ 7:00 PM. We will be honoring
our 8th Graders with a gift of money. Our 8th graders are:
