Progressive Education Society has started Modern College of Engineering in the year 1999. The college is approved by All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi, Directorate of Technical Education, and Government of Maharashtra and is permanently affiliated to University of Pune, complying with all the norms and standards of engineering education. The institute offers Undergraduate programs in Engineering and Postgraduate programs in Engineering and Management. In engineering it offers five undergraduate courses viz.: Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer & Information Technology. Institute also offers Masters programs in Mechanical Engineering (Heat Power), Electrical Engineering (Control Systems), Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (Signal Processing), and Masters in Computer Engineering (Computer Engg). The Institute has R & D cell that was set up with the objectives to undertake, promote & sustain the advancement of engineering education & encourage the research. In its short history, PES Modern College of Engineering has grown to become the Best Engineering College in Pune University. Lately, University of Pune honored Modern College of Engineering with the Best College Award 2011-12. GUIDELINES FOR ADMISSION 1.0 General 1.1. These rules shall apply for admission to full time Post Graduate courses. 1.2. Structure, syllabus, examination scheme & duration of these courses shall be as prescribed by the University of Pune. 1.3. A candidate applying for PG course should be an Indian National and who possess Bachelors degree or equivalent in the relevant field of Engineering/Technology, specified by the concerned University for admission to a particular Post graduate course from an AICTE approved institutions, with at least 50 % marks (at least 45% marks in case of candidate of Backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) and especially the candidate from the sponsor category must have minimum of two years of full time work experience in a registered firm/company/industry/educational and/ or research institute/ any Government Dept or Government Autonomous Organization in the relevant field in which admission is being sought. 1.4. Seats Available for Sponsor Category Candidates : 05 seats; For Non-Sponsor:13 2.0 Admission Procedure The rules for Admissions to Post Graduate Degree (M.E. / M. Tech.) courses in Engineering / technology for the academic year 2012-13 is based on G.R. No TEM 2011/(64/2011)/TE-4 dated 10th May 2011 issued by the Higher and Technical Education Department, Mantralaya Annexe, Mumbai-400 032. Eligibility criteria to apply for the particular masters programme will be based on the University of Pune Circular 82 of 2012 (Page 26-28). 2.1 Admissions will be effected according to merit-list prepared on the basis of valid GATE Score converted into proportional weight together with proportional weight of B.E percentage in the respective branch for candidates of Sponsor and Non-Sponsor categories in succession. The seats remaining vacant (if any) in Sponsor category group shall be offered to Non-Sponsor candidates. For GATE qualified non-sponsored candidates, seats will be reserved in different caste-categories as per clauses 4.3.1 & 4.3.2: given in the aforesaid GR. 2.2 Entrance Test: When enough GATE qualified candidates (Sponsor/Non-sponsor) in the respective branch are not available, the vacant seats will be offered to the non-GATE candidates, as per merit, based on total marks secured out of 100 as indicated belowi) Entrance Test 50 (+ weight for B.E %) Maximum 70 Marks ii) Interview / Viva Maximum 30 Marks ___________________________ Total performance 100 Marks

2.3 A GATE qualified candidate is not required to write the Entrance Test but if he/she does appear for the entrance test of the relevant branch then marks based on proportional weight for GATE score & proportional weight for B.E percentage collectively will be compared with his Entrance Test marks; whichever is higher will be considered for the merit.

2.4 No reservation is provided in the sponsored category. However preference will be given to the candidates of reserved category in case of equal merit. Candidates claiming to belong to backward class will be required to produce a certificate to that effect from appropriate authority 2.5 The written test will be based on the syllabus of Under Graduate courses of University of Pune. 2.6 Entrance Test will be conducted in the respective departments at Modern College of Engineering Pune. See brochure and website for the schedule. 2.7 Fresh candidates whose results are not declared can also apply. Their admissions shall be provisionally approved after they qualify the minimum eligibility condition as detailed in 2 above; and subject to declaration of results in stipulated time. 3.0 Authority of Admission Principal, MCOE, Pune shall be the competent authority for granting admissions to Post graduate courses in the institute. 4.0 Fee Structure 5.0 Fees must be paid in full on the due date or within the prescribed period. The Fee Structure is presented in the brochure. This is based on the relevant norms for the courses finalized/revised every year by Shikshan Shulka Samiti, a statutory body of Government of Maharashtra. Cancellation of Admission & Refund of Fees is based on the norms laid down by the Directorate of Technical Education Maharashtra State. 6.0 Other The information regarding list of certificates & supporting documents that are required to be submitted along with the application & other particulars are given in the brochure. True copies of the certificates, duly certified by the Principal of the College last attended or by any Gazette Officer must be attached with the application. Prof Dr. Mrs. K. R.
