PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2008 to Present Responsibilities: Chief Academic Officer (K-12), Puyallup School District
7,500 students, 16 Certificated Administrators, 400 Certificated Teachers To provide service and support for sixteen schools K-12 while providing educational leadership in all aspects of the operation of these schools; supervise and evaluate building principals, director of instructional leadership and Indian Education Specialists; respond to principal, parents, and community concerns; visit schools and serve as central liaison with all high school. Provide professional development for all school leadership teams. Oversee all aspects of the Puyallup School Districts K-12 Title VII/JOM (Indian Education) program, AVID Elementary, and high school graduation, including policy development and oversight for all four high school graduation ceremonies.

2006-2008 Responsibilities:

Firgrove Elementary Principal (K-6), Puyallup School District

1,070 students, 80 total staff Provided direct oversight to every aspect of leading a large elementary school housed on two different campuses, to insure high quality learning experiences for all; supervised and evaluated staff; created a culture and sense of community; communicated with staff, students and parents in order to create strong partnerships; managed multiple budgets; and provided instructional leadership for the school and the district.

2001-2006 Responsibilities:

Chautauqua Elementary Principal (K-5), Vashon Island School District

700+ students, 50 total staff Provided direct oversight to every aspect of leading an elementary school to insure high quality learning experiences for all; supervised and evaluated staff; coordinated site-level management for a $7 million remediation project, that included moving out of, and back into, the building within a three-month timeframe; led a math and socioemotional curriculum adoption.

1999-2001 Responsibilities: Chief School Administrator (K-12), Muckleshoot Tribal School
150 students, 30 total staff Provided direct oversight to every aspect of leading a cultural based community school; supervised and evaluated staff; supervised a $1.2 million dollar budget; developed application materials and began the new school construction project.

1997-1999 Responsibilities:

Chief Leschi Elementary School Principal (K-6), Chief Leschi School

700 students, 70 total staff Provided direct oversight to every aspect of leading a cultural based community school; supervised and evaluated staff; led professional development and curriculum initiatives to align with state and federal guidelines.

1995-1997 Responsibilities:

Chief Leschi Middle School Teacher (7th), Chief Leschi School

25 students Implemented curriculum, assessment and provided instruction to students in all subject areas; provided instructional leadership including leading the adoption of the FLASH curriculum; implemented an inclusion model for students with special needs.

200 total staff Provided direct oversight to all areas of the human resources department to insure compliance and alignment throughout the organization. Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent, Chief Leschi School 40 total staff Provided support to the superintendent on the daily operations and leadership of the school system.

1990-1991 Responsibilities:

Para-educator/Secretary Middle School, Chief Leschi School

40 students Provided direct instructional support to students and administrative support to the middle school administration for daily operations of the school.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES and ACCOMPLISHMENTS


Strategic Visioning 20/20 core team member that led a community group of principals, staff and community members (60 in all) through the strategic visioning process. Developed, in partnership with Puyallup Education Association, new elementary report card standards and tool. Core team committee member that was responsible for the selection of the Instructional Framework for the district (Danielson). Committee member and co-lead for committees for alternative education, athletics, highly capable and district improvement as part of budgetary and student achievement planning. Collective bargaining team member with Puyallup Education Association that led to a positive ratification. Led the Culminating Project committee through the alignment process for revision and better service for our community.

Developed the professional development plan for administrators for TPEP. Bond Advisory Committee member that led to the bond measure of winter 2013. Member of the Superintendents District Leadership Team with responsibilities for budget development, policy development and review, professional development leadership and daily operations. Development and implementation of Power Standards across core curricular areas. Coordinated cultural activities for schools with local tribal connections. Provided support and leadership to the first year implementation for select AVID elementary sites. Development of regional cultural competency celebrations. Supported schools in their improvement plan development and narrowing the achievement gap that resulted in their being Washington Achievement Award/Schools of Distinction recipients.
