Dear Parents & pupils, Please find enclosed an itinerary of the 6th Class school tour that will

be taking place on Wednesday the 19th of June to Thursday 20th of June. Please also find a list of the equipment needed by your child as well as information relating to mobile phones, medication, and the running of the centre. I will be going through this information with your child in class however I would appreciate it if you would read it with them also. Itinerary: Wednesday 19th June 10:45 Bus leaves school grounds. (bring packed lunch for journey) 13:00 Arrive at Burren Education Centre. 14:00 to 17:00 Outdoor Activity 18:00 Dinner 19:30 to 21:30 Evening Activity (Pupils allowed to call home). 21:30 to 23.30 Video, Social Time * students can bring own DVDs, or games subject to parental and teacher
approval.

23.30 Bedtime * phones turned off and collected 24:00 Lights Out and Quiet!!! Thursday 20th 7:45 - Wake up call. 8:15 Breakfast 9.30 to 12.30 Outdoor Activity 13.00 to 14.00 Lunch time 14:00 to 16:00 Outdoor Activity 16:00 Tidy up, pack bags* phones turned off and collected 17:00 Bus Collection 18:30 (approx.) Arrive at school IMPORTANT INFORMATION Supervision: 2 teachers will accompany the pupils on the tour. During outdoor activities pupils will be supervised by Burren Activity Centre staff and teachers will monitor behaviour and assist with organisation. Mobile phones: are banned by the centre except during the evening between 6 and 10 pm when pupils are free to use them to contact parents. I will collect the phones at night and return them before pupils get on the bus to return to the school. It is important that your child have their own pin code so they are the only person able to access their phone. I will have the contact details of each parent as provided to the school should anything happen concerning their child. In case of emergency you may contact the Centre itself on 065 7078066.

Accommodation: Hostel style accommodation is provide in 2 dorms of 16 with 2 single rooms for leaders in one area and in 4 rooms of 4 and 2 twin rooms in another area. Pupils are expected to keep bed and dorm area tidy. Medication: If your child has any medical issues or special dietary requirements please inform me as soon as possible. Pupils suffering from asthma must bring their own inhalers etc. as there will be none available at the centre. Travelling: If your child is prone to travel sickness it is strongly advised that they take the required medication before they get on the bus as the roads to the centre may cause discomfort. Valuables: It is advised that pupils leave valuables at home and that they put their name on all their belongings including bags, phones, and clothes. Packed lunch and sweets: Pupils should bring in their lunch as normal on Wednesday as they will be eating before they leave and when they arrive. The school healthy eating policy applies however pupils are allowed to bring some treats for the overnight (parent discretion is advised). Pupils will not be allowed to eat sweets on the bus however in case it would make them sick.

Sleeping Bag A warm sweater A hat Swimming costume Several pairs of socks Warm outdoor clothes A tracksuit Two full changes of clothing Changes of underwear Sturdy boots/shoes for walking Old runners (that you dont mind getting wet) Your own toiletries including sun screen (no sprays). Bring insect repellent if you need it. Long sleeve t-shirts or sweatshirts for caving A large plastic bag for wet clothes Jeans are not suitable for outdoor activities.

Pupils are strongly advised not to bring valuable items such as jewellery, ipods, cameras etc. as they may be damaged, and the Burren Centre will not accept any liability for them.
