Role Title: Typically reports to Instrumental Teacher (Percussion) Deputy Director of Academic School: Unqualified Teachers Scale; Grade

1-3 PEXA Part time, (0.6) 3 days per week. Pro Rata Term Time Only. Purpose of the role (job statement) To deliver high quality instrumental tuition on an individual and group basis to students across the schools age and ability range. To contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive and engaging extra-curricular and community partnership programme. Principal Responsibilities The person appointed shall, in addition to carrying out duties particularly assigned by the Headteacher, Assist in the implementation of the aims and objectives of the school. Maintain and develop the distinct ethos and character of the school in accordance with the directions given by the Governors and subject to direction given by the Headteacher. Be as visible and accessible as possible throughout the school day to provide encouragement and support for students learning and, drive an ongoing focus on the schools distinctive ethos and high expectations. Plan and deliver stimulating and engaging instrumental lessons that meet the learning needs of all students, including those considered to be gifted and talented or those with an SEN statement. To raise musical aspirations by seeking opportunities within and beyond lessons to nurture the development of students musical abilities. To monitor and support student progress and implement appropriate strategies to ensure continuous development and sustained improvement. To implement strategies to raise standards in student attainment, including setting learning targets as agreed with the Director of Academic School, reporting on progress and preparing students for internal and external examination entry. To share and support the schools responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth. To maintain accurate attendance and punctuality records. To communicate effectively with parents/carers. To take responsibility for leading instrumental ensembles and contributing to the extra-curricular and community partnerships programme, including building new links. To support and lead students in preparation for individual and group performances in school or off site. To co-operate with staff colleagues to ensure a shared and effective use of resources to the benefit of the whole school, Academic school and the students. To maintain discipline in line with the schools beha viour policy. To comply with the Schools Health and Safety protocols. Carry out any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post as directed by the Headteacher The postholder is entitled to a break of reasonable length in the course of each school day. Indicative qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience Proven musical ability and performance experience. Working with or caring for children of relevant age. Good numeracy/literacy skills. Participation in and commitment to personal development and training opportunities. Appropriate knowledge of safeguarding Ability to relate well to children and adults.
