Funding for economic development and safety in Westville Village

June 14, 2013

Governor Malloy and Rep. Dillon announce funding for

economic development and safety in Westville Village

The Bond Commission is set to approve funding to improve the walk-ability, safety and
infrastructure in Westville Village. The $424,227 will be part of the Commission’s
meeting next Friday.

This is an example of the state supporting a local initiative. I testified on the issue with
some of our Westville neighbors on the funding back in February of 2012.

The people who live and work near this section of Whalley Avenue have worked
incredibly hard to make it a brand and destination. Thank you, Governor Malloy, for
supporting safety and jobs in Westville Village.

There are 400 jobs in this part of the Whalley Avenue corridor... and I believe this
investment will spur further growth.

You can read about the traffic-calming plan in the New Haven Independent.

Sincerely,

Pat Dillon
