Abstract

MIMO implements a wide range of techniques and technologies, spatial multiplexing is used to increase channel capacity by different separate arriving at the antenna, signal reliability is improved through diversity coding scheme. MIMO comes in many taste of MIMO. One of the key type is Cooperative MIMO also known as network MIMO, at which we concentrate throughout the report CO-MIMO achieves all MIMO advantages and in addition to this it provide cooperative benefits which helps to achieves better and reliable transmission. Single user MIMO only avoids interference while CO-MIMO combats improve interference by exploiting it. MIMO technology is the candidate technology for future wireless standards such as 4G, 3GPP (LTE), WIMAX etc. , As it can support up to data rates of 1G bits/sec.

Introduction
Concept of cooperative communication is to exploit the broadcast nature of wireless network where the neighboring node overview the sources signals and relay the information to destination .As can seen in figure after receiving the signal resulting from source, a third party terminal acting as relays forwards their overhearing information to the destination so as to increase the capacity and/or improve reliability of direct communication. The end to end transmission is clearly divided into two separate stages in time domain broadcasting and relaying phase. In broadcasting phase, i.e., broadcasting channel as seen from the sources viewpoint, all the receiving include the relays and destination work in the same channel (time or frequency) as opposed to the second stage. In the relay phase, i.e., multiple access channels as seen from the destinations viewpoint, the transmitting terminals (relay node) may operate in different channel to avoid co-channel interference.

Function of MIMO
1- Proceeding. 2- Spatial Multiplexing. 3- Diversity Coding.

MIMO Provide Following Gain

1) Spatial multiplexing gain: I. Maximize transmission rate (optimistic approach). II. Use rich scattering / fading to your advantages. III. Increase channel capacity. 2) Diversity gain:I. Minimize pre (conservative approach). II. Go for reliability/ QOS etc. III. Combat fading. 3) Array gain:I. Increase the range. II. Coverage of cellular network

MIMO CHANNCEL MODEL

Cooperative MIMO
It is multi-user type of a conventional MIMO. Cooperative MIMO or CO-MIMO technology uses distributed antenna arrays which accommodate different users at the same time. It is achieved by deploying different nodes called relays in the path between the source transmitter and the destination receiver. CO-MIMO forms the sending group and receiving group are the known as transmitter cluster and receiving cluster respectively. Both transmitter and receiver cluster consist of nodes called relays which play a vital role to achieve better performance of communication of both diversity transmitter and receiver.

Transmission of Cooperative MIMO

CO-MIMO works in transmission from multiuser to multiuser MIMO. CO-MIMO consists of the three phase of transmission. 1) Broadcasting. 2) Inter-cluster transmission. 3) Intra-cluster transmission.

Cooperative Diversity
1) Cooperative diversity: Transmitting nodes use idle nodes as relays to reduce multi-path fading effects in wireless channel. 2) Schemes of Cooperative Diversity: I. II. III. Amplify - and Forward. Decode and Forward. Coded Cooperation.
