2008+ The Escape Committee Ltd. – Web Developer / System Administrator (Freelance)
The work here is essentially the same as at the The Escape Committee UK Ltd. However, it is
more centric on website maintenance and updates and is far more freelance-oriented.
2007-08 The Escape Committee UK Ltd. – Web Developer / System Administrator (8 Months IT)
Here I gained web development and systems administration experience (see experience
section for details). I was involved in a multitude of roles such as setting up sites on the
server, configuring bind and maintaining a working DNS setup, creating new projects from
scratch and maintaining old sites that were undocumented and needed to be edited by
someone fluent in PHP.
 2007 Southern Gas Networks – Assistant Facilities Manager
This role was mostly administrative, I was involved in making sure the office had enough
stationary and supplies, and acted as a liaison between Southern Gas Networks and 3rd
Party Contractors. I also had to do some physical work assisting the onsite maintenance
staff. I had to help out in the post-room.
2006-07 Burtons (Arcadia Group) – Part Time Sales Assistant
This was a fairly standard retail job – my role was to assist customers, make sure shelves
were restocked properly, and keep the general appearance of the store clean and tidy.
2005-06 Reed Agency – Various positions e.g. scanning documents at Watson & Wyatt
I had a variety of temporary positions from Reed such as working for CGG packing and
loading servers onto pallets, and work at Watson & Wyatt where my role was to scan
documents and make sure there were no errors. I scored exceptionally highly on Reed’s
computer proficiency and data input tests.
2005-09 Freelance web development work
There are many things involved with Freelance work and it means I have had to have the
skills to talk to clients, plan, design, implement and test sites from nothing all the way
through to launch.

OTHER SKILLS AND E XPERIENCE

I have extensive knowledge of Microsoft® Windows®, Word®, Access®, Excel®, and PowerPoint®. The 8
months experience at The Escape Committee UK Ltd. built on these skills: Extensive knowledge and experience
working within a LAMP environment, involving configuration and setup of the Apache HTTP Server,
Gentoo, Redhat Enterprise Linux and Debian systems; advanced knowledge of programming languages such
as PHP; experience working with databases such as MySQL; extensive knowledge of Adobe® Photoshop®
CS3; other languages such as HTML, CSS3.0; XML, XHTML and Visual Basic, JSON, Regular
Expressions and JQuery. I have experience using virtualization software such as VMware Workstation,
VirtualBox, and Microsoft Virtual PC. I have basic knowledge of frameworks such as Django and languages
such as Python, C, C++, Javascript, Bash.
I also developed familiarity with systems such as Asterisk, Postfix and Typo3.

I NTERESTS AND HOBBIES

I’m interested in reading, music, and socialising. I often go to gigs and support smaller lesser known bands. I
also spend a lot of time listening to music when I am at home on the computer. I enjoy evenings out with
friends either to the pub or to gigs. The news is important to me, I am a keen follower of current affairs and
think a lot about the world and politics and am interested by new developments politically and scientifically,
and do this by reading Reddit and other more conventional news sites such as Guardian Unlimited.
