Better still, with the optional addition of Garmins HSVT synthetic vision technology for helicopters, pilots can now fly with a realistic 3-D view of topographic features surrounding their aircraft. Using sophisticated graphics modeling, Garmin HSVT tracks the navigation systems terrain-alerting database to recreate this virtual reality landscape on the pilots PFD. Depicting ground and water features, airports, runways, obstacles, traffic and more, the HSVT display looks so real and lifelike, its almost like having a clear-day out-the-window view of ones flight situation even in marginal VFR or nighttime visibility conditions. Meanwhile, over on the G1000Hs multi-tasking MFD,
When visibility is low, its reassuring to have Garmins Towers and Obstacles database looking out for structural hazards. Color-coded 3-D symbols are depicted with HSVT if theres a potential flight path conflict. HTAWS terrain alerting, designed specifically for helicopters, is optionally available with Garmins G1000H. Providing visual and aural advisories, this safety-enhancing technology uses an expanded database containing over 30,000 more structures, obstacles and oil rigs than the Garmin fixed-wing aviation versions.
U.S., regardless of altitude, allowing operators to make informed weather decisions in flight. Or, for those flying outside the continental U.S., its still possible to have access to quality on-demand satellite weather data on a worldwide scale via the optional GSR 56 Iridium network transceiver (sold separately; subscription required). With this system, radar and satellite imagery are available for the U.S., Southern Canada, Western Europe and Australia. Plus, the Garmin Iridium transceiver can also be used to provide voice/data connectivity (including flight tracking and position reporting), as well as text messaging, from virtually anywhere on the planet. At the core of the G1000H platform, potentially highmaintenance gyro instruments are replaced with Garmins proven Attitude and Heading Reference System, or AHRS. With accumulated flight hours in the millions, this advanced AHRS technology uses additional comparative inputs from GPS, magnetometer and air data computer information to achieve unprecedented levels of spatial-sensing precision and dependability. Whats more, the Garmin AHRS is even able to restart and fully realign itself while the aircraft is moving. Other noteworthy G1000H system highlights include: Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) technology for highprecision GPS guidance; an interface to support display of radar altimeter readouts on the pilots PFD (radar altimeter sold separately); available Garmin GTS Series TAS and TCAS I traffic avoidance systems (sold separately); preloaded Garmin SafeTaxi diagrams to help pilots track their georeferenced position on nearly 1,000 U.S. airports; plus, a video input option that allows your G1000H MFD screen to

helicopter pilots will find essential engine and fuel systems data displayed along with detailed moving-map graphics showing the aircrafts current position in relation to ground features, chart data, navaids, flight plan routings, and more. The map function is designed to interface with a variety of sensor inputs, thus making it easy for pilots to overlay lightning, traffic, weather, terrain and other avoidance system advisories, as desired. An optionally available HTAWS (Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System) has been engineered specifically for rotorcraft flight regimes, providing visual and aural alerting to help keep pilots safely separated from hazardous terrain and minimize the chance of CFIT (Controlled Flight Into Terrain) incidents. Forward looking terrain avoidance (FLTA) capability is used to predict in advance where potential hazards may exist. Plus, a 5-color Terrain Proximity display for helicopters
Preloaded Garmin SafeTaxi airport diagrams on the G1000H identify runways, taxiways and hangars, as well as your helicopters geo-referenced location, on thousands of U.S. airfields.
Weather datalink capability, via XM WX Satellite Weather service, can provide color NEXRAD, METARs, TAFs, lightning, and other U.S. data displays. For worldwide weather access, an Iridium-based Garmin datalink system is also available.
gives pilots a much more detailed presentation of potential flight path hazards. In addition, voice callouts, or VCOs, audibly announce the helicopters height above terrain when descending below 500 feet. (A selectable RP mode allows pilots to minimize alerting prompts when flying near known terrain/obstacle hazards.) Garmin developed a special helicopter obstacle database for its HTAWS option, adding over 30,000 lower-height structures to its existing software and enabling the system to depict some 25 percent more obstacles that might pose a hazard to helicopters and pilots routinely flying close to the ground. Another safety-enhancing feature available with the G1000H is weather datalink capability, via XM Satellite Radio and the XM WX Satellite Weather receiver (subscription required). With the XM link, NEXRAD weather imagery, METARs, TAFs, TFRs, winds aloft, echo
As you can see, a lot of forward thinking went into the design of the G1000H integrated cockpit. Its clearly a major advance in pilot workload reduction, safety and systems integration. Moreover, anywhere your G1000H flies, you can count on the extra-solid confidence and security that come with Garmins award-winning product support network reinforced by more than 700 Garmin sales/service centers worldwide. Using familiar traffic symbology in a 3-D format, Garmin traffic system alerting with HSVT makes it easier to spot moving targets You can see if approaching aircraft are above or below your altitude. And as intruders get closer, the symbols get larger.
For backup redundancy, the G1000H PFD/MFD displays offer reversionary mode capability should failure or shutdown of either display occur. Essential flight information is retained on the remaining operable CDU screen.
