FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, NY (June 14, 2012) What does a gecko research scientist, a gold award Girl Scout, a literary journal publisher, a public access television host, a software application developer and a student school board representative have in common? They are among the eleven graduating seniors from eleven Ulster County high schools who have made a difference in their schools and community through their extraordinary leadership and ambition. Ulster County Comptroller Elliott Auerbach is pleased to announce the recipients of his 2013 Recognizing Success Program which acknowledges the entrepreneurial spirit of the student who possesses a propensity for risk, innovation and achievement. The Recognizing Success program identifies that student who is willing to launch a creative new venture, enterprise or approach for the public good. The program seeks to honor students who are: Social entrepreneurs whose initiatives improve and transform social problems. Environmental entrepreneurs tackling an environmental concern from an atypical perspective. Educational entrepreneurs who challenge academic custom with stellar results. Economic entrepreneurs who start businesses or earn income despite traditional economic limitations.

Students who attend our high schools are caring and effective young adults, who often see opportunity in new and different ways. said Auerbach, and I feel it is important to recognize students with an entrepreneurial spirit who take the initiative and use their ingenuity in pursuit of a public purpose goal.

The mission of the Ulster County Comptrollers Office is to serve as an independent agency of the people and to protect the public interest by monitoring County government and to assess and report on the degree to which its operation is economical, efficient and its financial condition sound.
