The two models shown in red above are from our range of twin screw pumps

Above flows based on foams of 12-14 cst & S.G: 1.2 Viscosity range 3 cps to 2000 cps can be accommodated.

Other versions are available for maximum 40 bar pressure, depending on viscosity. Larger flows are available to 9000 l/min.

CONSTRUCTION:
PUMP CASING: ROTORS: SHAFTS: BEARINGS: RELIEF VALVE: GLAND & SEALS: REVERSIBLE:
Gunmetal or stainless steel 316. Flanges to ASA or DIN standards, Screwed branches: NPT available to choice. Phosphor Bronze with A304 stainless steel as an option on certain models Stainless steel 316 with options of hard coatings and pressure balance. Self-lubricated based on PTFE or Carbon. Usually mounted in the pump body for internal circulation. Valve with external relief can be supplied. John Crane mechanical seals (or PTFE lip seals) may be offered as an alternative to packed glands. An internal pressure relief system reduces pressure in the gland and seal area. Albany gear pumps can run in either direction (water driven Pelton wheel pump sets are built for one direction of rotation only).

NFPA 20: Albany pumps comply with the latest edition (1999)

DRIVES
When pumps are fitted to fire tender vehicles, drive is normally from PTO but may be via hydraulic motor or a separate engine. Fixed installations normally employ electric motors or diesel engine drives. However, there is an increasing preference for water turbine drives for foam concentrate pumps.

THIXOTROPIC FOAM CONCENTRATES

Albany pumps will handle thixotropic foam liquids. Pumps may be run at normal speeds, as the shear rate within the pump is sufficient to reduce viscosities. Suction lines should be as short as possible and of generous diameter since these liquids have a high resistance to flow.

CLOSE COUPLED FOAM LIQUID PUMPS

Flows 67 216 l/min (4 to 13 m/hr) Albany pump sizes AP6 to AP9 with to 1 connections. Compact pumpsets are supplied in bronze. The maximum water requirement is 45m/hr. Albanys 3 model HD5 foam concentrate pump uses a newly developed Pelton wheel turbine to give:Flows 250 600 l/m (15 36 m/hr) The water inlet is flanged 4 ASA, maximum water requirement is 115 m/hr.

BEDPLATE-MOUNTED UNITS

Foam liquid flows 650 1400 l/min (40 to 84 m/hr)

We use Albanys 3 or 4 flanged foam concentrate pumps: AP12, 13 & HD8. The pumps are coupled to large Pelton wheel turbines developing up to 30 kW.

In this case Francis turbines and other models which allow circulation of water to the vehicle water tank are preferred. Albany offer close coupled aluminium units to save space and weight which meet all requir ments.

WATER POWERED PUMPS FOR MOBILE EQUIPMENT

Note: Water supply pressure must be measured at the inlet to the turbine

2 and 3 pumps with flows to 1200 l/m at 5-7 bars are available for back-up foam liquid tankers.

Close-coupled lightweight pumps with 24 V/12V DC motor drive are offered with deliveries up to 40 l/m for drum emptying. Flows to 300 l/m are offered with air or water powered pumps. Petrol or diesel engine powered portable pumps are supplied

COMPACT COMPACT WATER WATER TURBINE TURBINE POWERED POWERED PUMPS

Light weight foam concentrate pump for up to 250 l/m flows fills and empties fire truck tanks using the fire truck water pump and on board water. This pump is also supplied in stainless steel for cleaning up spills of corrosive or viscous chemicals, or oils.

WATER PUMPS
Albany manufactures a range of centrifugal pumps for use with diesel or petrol engines in portable fire pump duties. Typical duties: 1300 l/m and 2200 l/m at 7 bars pressure.

APPROVALS QA Albany holds BS EN ISO 9001 approval and, worldwide, many installations of its pumps fulfil rigorous test and service conditions. However, contracts in the chemical and offshore industries often petrorequire meet ing offshore paint specifications based on special QA procedures. Albany is experienced in meeting these requirements using state-of-the-art CAD and computer assisted test equipment. TESTING Albany has capability in-house to test with fluids of up to 100,000 cst viscosity. Bareshaft pumps are proved on computer-assisted test rigs. Water turbine-driven pumps are tested on a special rig using high pressure water and oil of visco sity approximating that of foam liquid.

FINISHES Albany has shot-blasting and painting facilities house. The Company is fully in- capable of

DOCUMENTATION Albany publishes a comprehensive instruction and maintenance manual. Customised instructions are provided for customers when required. API SPECIFICATION PUMPS Albany gear pumps can be supplied to meet the requirements of API 676.
