Method Statement

Lokfix

constructive solutions

This method statement should be read in conjunction with the Application criteria section of Lokfix data sheet. Please refer to the local Fosroc office for advice on selection of the most appropriate product for your application. High temperature working It is suggested that, for temperatures above 35C, the following guidelines are adopted as good working practice: (i) Store unmixed materials in a cool (preferably temperature controlled) environment, avoiding exposure to direct sunlight. (ii) Keep equipment cool, arranging shade protection if necessary. It is especially important to keep cool those surfaces of the equipment which will come into direct contact with the material itself. (iii) Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day. (iv) Make sufficient material, plant and labour available to ensure that application is a continuous process. Equipment

It is suggested that the following list of equipment is adopted as a minimum requirement Protective clothing Preparation equipment Mixing equipment : : : : : Protective overalls Good quality gloves, goggles and face mask Electric or pneumatic breaker Hammer and chisel 1 KW slow speed drill, 400 or 500 rpm, plus Fosroc mixing paddle and mixing vessel, Application - points of note Fosroc operates a policy to encourage the use, where possible, of approved or licensed applicators. This ensures that works are completed satisfactorily so that the long-term performance of the materials is assured.

constructive solutions Section B : Application Method 1.0 Surface Preparation.

Attention to full and proper preparation is essential to successful grouting. Hole Preparation 1.1 1.2 1.3 Optimum performance of Lokfix grouts requires rough sided, dust free holes. These can be made by rotary percussive drills followed by oil-free air or water flushing. Diamond drilled holes should be underreamed. Cast holes should be of inverse dovetail configuration. If parallel sided holes are cast, they should be rough enough to provide an adequate mechanical key.

Bar Preparation 1.4 1.5 2.0 2.1 2.2 All bars should be deformed. This will ensure good bond between bar and grout. The bars should be degreased and any mill scale or flaky rust removed. Mixing For best results a mechanically powered grout mixer should be used. For small quantities of grout a slow speed drill (400/500 rpm) fitted with a high shear paddle is acceptable, but mixing should be restricted to one pack at a time in a container of minimum capacity 25 litres. Under no circumstances should part packs be used, as this will change the resin : powder ratio, adversely affecting material performance and automatically invalidating Fosrocs standard product guarantee. Placing The mixing grout should be poured or pumped steadily into the prepared anchor holes. The anchor bar should then be pressed into the hole to the required depth. Slight agitation of the bar will greatly assist in achieving a complete bond. The bar should be left undisturbed in the required position until the grout has hardened fully. Ensure that the grout is placed within its Gel time (Refer to the Data sheet)

constructive solutions 4.0 4.1 Cleaning Any mixing drums, pumps etc. should be cleaned within the pot life of the grout. Fosroc Solvent 102 is recommended.

Section C : Approval and variations This method statement is offered by Fosroc as a standard proposal for the application of Lokfix. It remains the responsibility of the Engineer to determine the correct method for any given application. Where alternative methods are to be used, these must be submitted to Fosroc for approval, in writing, prior to commencement of any work. Fosroc will not accept responsibility or liability for variations to the above method statement under any other condition.
