PIA CAYETANO -She was born in Michigan United States on March 22, 1966 -She is the youngest woman

elected in the history of the Philippine Senate. -A lawyer, triathlete, and mother of two, Senator Pia S. Cayetano is proving theres no limit to what Filipino women can do and achieve. -Sen. Pia first ran in 2004 as a newcomer to politics.

-People knew little about her apart from being the daughter of the late Senator Compaero Rene L. Cayetano. -Using her training as a lawyer, discipline as an athlete and heart as a mother, Sen. Pia worked for the passage of many landmark laws. -Pia stood as the Senate's Assistant Majority Floor Leader and Chairperson of the Committees on Health and Demography and Environment and Natural Resourses. -She was also co-chairperson of the Joint Congressional Oversight Committees on the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999, the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004. Contributions: Her growing list of legislative accomplishments includes the Mandatory Infants and Children Health immunization Act (RA 10152),

Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act (RA 10028)- which establishes lactation stations in the workplace to encourage nursing mothers to continue breastfeeding even at work.

Sen. Pia also brought honor to the country as an international parliamentarian. She served as President of the Committee of Women Parliamentarians of the InterParliamentary Union (IPU) from 2008-2010. This is the highest position by any Filipino or Asian in the history of IPU. In 2010, she sought reelection armed with her track record from the 13th and 14th Congress. She was reelected, landing top sixth in the senatorial polls. Advocacies: Outside the Senate halls, Sen. Pia promotes her advocacies through Pinay In Action (women empowerment) Bike for Hope (environment and healthy lifestyle) Founder of Gabriels Symphony Foundation, which helps children with disabilities and special needs. She actively joins local and international marathons, duathlons, Ironman competitions and recently, off-road triathlons. Compaero Rene Cayetano Foundation which provides support to people who are in need of health assistance, education and promotes environment concern and aims to establish a liver center in the Philippines.

Spokesperson of the Philippine Cancer Society and the Universal Birth Registration Project. She is a member of the Young Entrepreneur's Organization.

Whether shes on the Senate floor or out in the communities, Sen. Pia is driven by the same passion that has made her among the country's most accomplished young leaders. Compaeros daughter has come into her own and has stamped her mark as the Senates Pinay In Action.

AS A LAWYER AND ECONOMIST From 1992 until 1995, she was an associate lawyer of the Castillo, Laman Tan, and Pantaleon Law Offices who specializes in corporate law and intellectual property laws. From 1996 to 1999 she was an officer for the legal and corporate affairs of the Belle Corporation and its affiliates including the gaming conglomerate BW Resources. In 2000, she was a general counsel of the Philweb Corporation. In 2001 she was appointed as chairman of the Maxi Group of Companies, a retailer and distributor of educational toys, infant apparel and accessories.
