odays Gospel starts with a conversation with which Jesus begins his journey to Jerusalemand the cross. As his followers, we strive to march with him, even to the cross. Pauls Letter to the Galatians tells us that we who have been baptized have clothed ourselves with Christ. Being one with Christ, we must no longer discriminate according to nationality or race, according to social status, according to gender. The prophet Zechariah, centuries before anyone heard of Jesus, spoke of how the people find Gods message uncomfortable, and so turn against the messengers. Later, though, the people awaken to the realization of what they have done and are moved to repentance. Thus, they are always welcomed back by God, who always gives us grace to do the right thing, however difficult it may be.

Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie, Podczas ostatniego spotkania z przedstawicielami organizacji Caritas Internationalis, Papie Franciszek stwierdzi, i Koci powinien okazywa wicej czuoci wzgldem potrzebujcych. W wielu miejscach na wiecie Koci codziennie staje przed wyzwaniem, eby by widzialnym znakiem dobroczynnoci. Tegoroczne witopietrze kolekta na rzecz Ojca witego daje nam szans bymy i my byli pielgrzymami dobroczynnoci. Nasze wsparcie dla tej dorocznej kolekty pomoe Papieowi Franciszkowi w dziele umacniania diecezji, zakonw, oraz borykajcych si z problemami wsplnotami wiernych. Niech Bg nadal bogosawi Wam i Waszym bliskim, gdy szerzycie wiar i dobroczynno w waszych parafiach, w archidiecezji Chicago i w caym Kociele Powszechnym. Prosz, pamitajcie o mnie w swoich modlitwach; zapewniam, e ja rwnie modl si za Was i za tych, ktrych kochacie.

Szczerze oddany w Chrystusie,

Francis Kardyna George, O.M.I.

Faith can be Funny

There were two evil brothers. They were rich, and used their money to keep their evil ways from the public eye. They even attended the same church, and appeared to be perfect Christians. Not only could the new pastor see right through the brothers' deception, but he also spoke well and true, and the church membership grew in numbers. A fundraising campaign was started to build a new assembly. All of a sudden, one of the brothers died. The remaining brother sought out the pastor the day before the funeral and handed him a check for the amount needed to finish paying for the new building. "I have only one condition," he said. "At the funeral, you must say my brother was a saint." The pastor gave his word, and deposited the check. The next day, at the funeral, the pastor did not hold back. "He was an evil man," he said, "But, compared to his brother, he was a SAINT."
