All Rights Reserved. Int erroga t ion procedure ISUP INITIAL ADDRESS MESSAGEA PSTN subscriber ca lls the mobil e phone by di a ling the MSISDN GSM phone number (MSISDN). The PSTN will use the MSISDN to loca t e the GMSC (Ga t eway Mobil e Swi t ching Cent er) for the servi ce provider. Once the GMSC has been ident i f i ed, the PSTN sends the ISUP Ini t i a l Address Message to the GMSC. MAP/C SEND ROUTING INFORMATION The GMSC requests rout ing informa t ion for the GSM MSISDN subscriber from the HLR (Home Loca t ion Regist er). The HLR uses the di a l ed number Obt a in the SS7 address of the MSC VLR current ly to loca t e the HLR entry for the serving the spec i f i ed subs criber. The SS7 address for MSISDN the MSC VLR serving the subscriber is obt a ined from this record. (Reca ll tha t the SS7 address of the serving MSC VLR was upda t ed vi a an int er VLR loca t ion upda t e .) MAP/D PROVIDE ROAMING NUMBER The HLR has ident i f i ed tha t the subscriber is current ly be ing IMSI served by the Maryl and MSC VLR. The HLR then asks the MSC VLR to assign a t emporary roaming phone number to the subscriber. The Maryl and MSC VLR allocate a lloca t es a t emporary roaming MSRN phone number (MSRN -Mobil e St a t ion Roaming Number) MAP/D PROVIDE ROAMING NUMBER RESULT The MSRN is then passed to the HLR. MSRN MAP/C SEND ROUTING INFORMATION RESULT HLR passes the MSRN to the GMSC. MSRN ISUP INITIAL ADDRESS MESSAGE
