FADE IN: INT. RICKY'S DEN - DAY Ricky, thirties, long black hair, eye-black under his eyes, casual mover's clothes, sits behind a large cheap drumkit whose bass drum shows a yellow sun with orange rays. Behind him is a mural of a green and blue mountain. He starts a drum solo that sounds really heavy and complex. EXT. TRAFFIC LIGHT - DAY The light is red. After about fifteen seconds it turns to green. EXT. STREET CORNER - DAY Henry, late twenties, good-looking, wearing a brown sweatshirt and green jeans, stands in front of an electrical pole holding a black basketball. He reads a pasted ad: GOT MUSCLE? RED MITE MOVERS with detachable phone numbers on the bottom of the paper. He takes a little phone number. EXT. LOCAL BASKETBALL COURT - DAY Henry takes some shots. INT. HENRY'S BEDROOM - DAY Henry is lying in a sail cloth hammock and dialling the moving company's phone number into his cellphone. He gets through. HENRY Hi, my name is Henry and I am interested in working for you. (pause) I've never worked as a mover before. (pause) Can I come tomorrow? Sure, yes, I can come tomorrow. (pause) Let me just get a pen INT. HENRY'S BEDROOM - NIGHT Henry is lying on his bed in the dark. He turns on a flashlight he is holding in his hand, and shines the light on the ceiling.

EXT. RED MITE MOVERS WAREHOUSE - MORNING Tom, forties, built like a bull, black hair, moustache, glasses, t-shirt, shorts, and half-deaf is working on an Iroc with its hood open. There are many trucks, mostly dilapidated, parked behind the warehouse. Henry walks into the frame and up to Tom. TOM You're Henry, right? HENRY Yeah What's your name? TOM Tom. (pause) Come meet my dad. HENRY Ok. They walk into the warehouse. INT. WAREHOUSE - MORNING CLOSE UP of microwave heating up a jamaican beef patty. TOM (O.S.) This is the office. ALEC (from inside the office) (O.S.) Hey Henry. Thanks for coming in. Henry and Tom are standing in the office while Alec (the owner) sixties, balding, beige plaid shirt, sits behind the desk. CLOSE UP of a Farrah Fawcett picture on the wall beside the door. ALEC (O.S.) You have to meet Eric. Eric, thirties, poor, scruffy, is peeing in the warehouse toilet. ALEC I'm just trying to find the address for today.

HENRY What are we moving today? ALEC . The microwave beeps in the background. We hear the microwave door being opened and shut. Eric enters the office eating his beef patty. ERIC Happy Halloween, guys! ALEC Halloween isn't until Friday. It's Tuesday. ERIC Do you have my weekly cheque? ALEC No. I'll have it tomorrow. EXT. WAREHOUSE - MORNING Tom, Henry, and Eric walk out to the truck. It is a large white moving truck with RED MITE MOVERS in black letters on the side. There is also a large cartoon red mite with eight legs to the right of the letters. TOM (to Henry) Do you want a coffee? HENRY Sure TOM We'll get one on the way. EXT. TRUCK IN PARKING LOT - MORNING Eric is rolling a joint out of old roaches. Henry is looking at a road map. Tom walks back towards the truck with three coffees stacked on top of each other from a Tim Horton's. He opens the door and

gives the coffees to Henry and Eric, putting his own on the dash as he gets in. He starts the truck up and it moves out of frame. INT. TRUCK ON HIGHWAY - MORNING Eric is smoking the joint. ERIC (to Henry) Do you want some? HENRY Sure. He passes the joint to Henry who takes a few inhales. HENRY (to Tom) Do you have any brothers or sisters? TOM (gets teary-eyed) I had a brother named Ricky. He died a couple years ago. From cancer. He was a good guy. INT. INSIDE TRUCK'S CARGO SPACE - MORNING Ricky is sleeping on the floor, his face on some blue mover pads. His face is painted goth-style black and white. He is wearing a long black coat. INT. ELEVATOR - MORNING Henry, Tom, and Eric are in an elevator. Henry reads some of the graffiti above the door. It says, no smoking with the "smo" crossed out and an "s" added after king. INT. OUTSIDE ELEVATOR DOOR - MORNING The door opens and Eric lets his dolly drop through the threshold, like a skateboard. INT. APARTMENT BUILDING - DAY Henry carries a box out of a door, followed by Tom and Eric who are carrying a queen-sized mattress.

EXT. TRUCK IN FRONT OF APARTMENT BUILDING - DAY The cargo space of the truck is a third full. Tom is explaining to Henry how to load a truck. TOM First you have to put the base in. Base is larger pieces and they go in the back of the truck first. The reason we make a base is so we can put smaller stuff on top of it. HENRY I'll just put stuff where you want it. TOM Just take boxes today, I don't want you to hurt yourself. HENRY Ok. INT. APARTMENT - DAY Eric is unscrewing the legs of a large table. Tom is wrapping a large cabinet with plastic and tape in the hallway. Henry is standing in the living room looking up at a mounted swordfish. HENRY (to Eric) Can I take this down? Eric looks up. ERIC Yeah, it should just unhook off the wall. Henry carefully takes down the mounted swordfish. INT. APARTMENT KITCHEN - DAY The movers are eating pizza and drinking pops with the customer, a middle-aged African woman. ERIC There's no anchovies on this, is there? WOMAN No.

ERIC I can't eat anchovies EXT. BACK OF TRUCK - DAY The truck is loaded with the apartment's belongings. Tom walks up to the back, steps up onto the fender, and pulls down the back door. It rolls shut. He puts a lock on it. INT. TRUCK CAB (DRIVING) - DAY TOM (to Henry) How are ya feeling? HENRY No problem. TOM (to Eric) You're not rolling another joint, are you? ERIC Just a small one for the road. HENRY That chiquita served some good pizza. (pause) Can I turn on the radio? TOM Yeah, sure. Henry turns on the radio and Silver Jews' Random Rules is playing. They drive on while listening. Henry unscrews his iced tea bottle and pours some into his hand. He wets his hair with the liquid. ERIC (points) Hey look at that bumpersticker... The corolla in front of them has a bumpersticker that says, "my <3 belongs to a firefighter". EXT. HOUSE - DAY Eric and Henry pull out the truck's ramp; Tom opens the back of the truck. Tom walks over to Henry. TOM

The boxes are labelled, "master bedroom", "living room", "kitchen", etc so you know where to take them. HENRY Ok. Henry walks up the ramp and takes a good sized box. It splits in his hand and falls onto the ramp. The box breaks upon impact and a bunch of porn mags spill out onto the ramp and ground. TOM Oh-oh ERIC Must be her husband's. TOM I'll get you a new box. INT. HOUSE - DAY There are boxes stacked in the living room. Henry is carrying a desk chair awkwardly up the stairs. He comes back down and goes outside. EXT. HOUSE - DAY Tom and Eric are lifting a couch out of the truck. They get down the ramp. TOM Put it on its knees. Eric jokingly gets down and kneels on his knees. ERIC You mean like this? TOM Joker! Come on, stand up! Eric stands again and they flip the couch onto its knees. Then they pick it up again and head into the house. HENRY Mind if I have a smoke break?

TOM (departing) No sure, go right ahead. Henry sits down on the back of the open truck and pulls out a pack of cigarettes. He lights one. Henry is looking down when are two crossed drumsticks nothing before. He gets up do with them, he puts them he notices something strange. There on the pavement where there was and picks them up. Not knowing what to in his back pocket.

TOM (from the door) Hey Henry! HENRY Yeah? TOM Can you bring the toolbox please? Henry gets up and finds the toolbox on the left side of the back of the truck (at the front). He walks into the house with it. SUPERTITLE: LATER ON The back of the truck is empty. Eric is folding mover's pads. Tom is going over the bill with the woman's husband at the door. Henry is hula-hooping along with the couple's young daughter on the driveway. EXT. WAREHOUSE - EVENING The three movers are standing in the lot behind the warehouse. TOM (to Henry) You want a beer? HENRY Yeah, sure. TOM (going into the warehouse) You want one too, Eric?

ERIC Yeah. HENRY Oh, I forgot something. Henry goes to the front of the truck and takes the two drumsticks out of the grill. He walks back to Eric who is sitting at a picnic bench. HENRY Found these drumsticks on the pavement. ERIC Hey, that's cool. I'm going to get a beef patty. Eric goes into the warehouse. Henry goes to his car and gets his sunglasses. Tom comes back out of the warehouse with three beers. Henry meets him. TOM Here, Henry. HENRY Thanks. They take a few sips of beer. Eric gets back a few seconds later, with Alec in tow. ALEC Hey guys, you should have saved a beer for me! TOM There's more in the fridge. ALEC That's okay. Henry, can you come tomorrow? HENRY Yes. ALEC Be here at 8 o'clock sharp. We've got a big

move tomorrow. Henry takes a sip of his beer. INT. HENRY'S BATHROOM - NIGHT The shower is running behind a world atlas shower curtain. Henry takes off his shoes, and then pulls his socks off. INT. HENRY'S BEDROOM - MORNING Henry's clock radio goes off at 6:54 am. He turns off the alarm and sits up in bed. He takes a t-shirt off the pillow and puts it on. We see the front; it says, "PREVENT TRUTH DECAY BRUSH UP ON YOUR BIBLE" with a picture of toothpaste, a toothbrush, and a bible. INT. HENRY'S BATHROOM - MORNING Henry applies toothpaste to his brush and starts to brush his teeth. INT. HENRY'S CIVIC - MORNING Henry is driving and listening to Pavement's "Fight This Generation". The time is 7:36. He passes a golf driving range. EXT. WAREHOUSE - MORNING Henry's Civic pulls into the warehouse space and he parks by a fence. Tom is making wardrobe boxes by the truck. Henry walks up to him. HENRY Hey Tom. TOM Good morning. HENRY Anything I can do? TOM Get the dollies HENRY Where are they?

TOM In the warehouse. HENRY Ok. Henry walks into the warehouse. INT. WAREHOUSE - MORNING Henry goes into the office. Alec is there doing some paperwork. HENRY Hey boss. Which dollies should I take? ALEC I'll show you. Alec gets out from behind the desk and walks into warehouse. He walks over to some dollies leaning against the wall. ALEC This one's not very good. Take these two. Henry picks them up. HENRY Thanks. ALEC No problem. EXT. TRUCK - MORNING Henry slides the dollies into the back of the opened truck. Tom follows shortly thereafter and throws the assembled wardrobe boxes into the truck. Eric appears walking towards the warehouse. Henry and Tom walk to the front of the truck. TOM Eric! How are you? ERIC (from a distance) Pretty good!

Henry notices a cookie monster tied to the grill of the truck with a coathanger. HENRY (to Tom) What's this? TOM Punch him. Henry gets closer and punches cookie monster. COOKIE MONSTER DOLL (recorded voice) Oh boy! Oh boy! TOM I just put him there last night. HENRY I really like him. Henry punches him again and the voice goes off. INT. TRUCK CAB - MORNING Eric and Henry are sitting in the idling truck and waiting for Tom. HENRY I brought some weed today. ERIC Awesome. HENRY Should I roll a joint now? ERIC Wait until we're on the road. HENRY (remembering) Oh yeah, I have one pre-rolled. (digs it out) Check it out. ERIC

(takes it and smells) Seems like really good weed. Eric gives it back. Tom gets into the truck. HENRY Where are we going today? TOM Big move in Rosedale. Alec is bringing another truck later on. HENRY Cool. EXT. WAREHOUSE - MORNING The Red Mite Movers truck is leaving the warehouse. It leaves and there is silence. We hear some noise. Around the corner, Ricky is hitting an old tennis ball repeatedly against the wall with a cheap tennis racquet. INT. TRUCK CAB - MORNING Eric and Henry are smoking the joint. Tom is smoking a cigarillo. He turns on the radio. Silver Jews "Send In The Clouds" is playing. ERIC This is really good weed. HENRY (to Tom) Are you married? Tom turns the radio down. TOM Yeah HENRY Does your wife work too? TOM Yeah, she's a paralegal secretary. HENRY That's neat. Do you have any kids?

TOM No HENRY (to Eric) How about you? You married? ERIC I was but we split up. HENRY Any kids? ERIC Yeah, three kids. HENRY Wow! Henry takes a puff and passes it to Eric. Eric inhales and looks out the window. ERIC Oh, look at that girl! She's got a tight body! HENRY Yeah, she does. ERIC (to Tom) Can we stop so I can get some cigarettes and milk? TOM Yeah sure. Tom pulls over the truck in front of a convenience store. ERIC You guys want anything? TOM No thanks. HENRY No thanks.

ERIC (getting out) Be right back! Tom turns up the radio again. HENRY This is really good music. What station is this? TOM Some college station HENRY It's good. (pause) Why do we have two trucks today? TOM Because the move is too big for one truck. We need another truck. HENRY Who will drive that? TOM My father. Eric gets back into the truck, puts his cigarettes on the dash, opens his 2% milk, and drinks it. HENRY You smoke cigarettes and drink milk? ERIC Yeah, I love milk. It's all I drink.

HENRY You don't drink juice? ERIC No, it's too acidic for me. TOM (starting to drive) Here we go! Movers!

LATER ON ERIC You went to university? Which one? HENRY McGill. ERIC McGill. TOM That's a good school. HENRY Why did you name the company Red Mite? TOM I don't know. EXT. LARGE HOUSE - MORNING The truck goes over the curb while reversing into the house's driveway. It comes to a stop and the movers get out. Tom walks to the front door and knocks on it. A girl, nineteen, and wearing wrist bandages on both wrists opens the door. GIRL (to parents) Mom! The movers! The girl's mom shows up at the door. MOM Meredith, go inside. (pause) Hello. TOM I'm Tom. Where do you want us to start? MOM Why don't you start in the basement and work your way up? TOM Ok, sounds good. I've got some wardrobe boxes for you, you can put all your clothes in there.

MOM Just put them upstairs in the two bedrooms. TOM Ok. Tom starts walking back to the truck. Henry and Eric are standing by the back of the truck. TOM Let's go inside. INT. HOUSE BASEMENT - MORNING A purple felt pool table without legs is leaning against a wall. Henry walks out of the room pulling a dolly stacked with boxes. Eric is on the other side holding on to the other strap. They get to the stairs and both get down to lift the dolly. HENRY One, two, three! They lift it and carry it up the stairs. TOM (from inside the basement room) Eric, we have to do the pool table next. ERIC Ok, I'll be right back. EXT. DRIVEWAY - MORNING Henry and Eric are rolling the dolly towards the truck. Henry pulls it up the ramp while Eric pushes from behind. ERIC Just leave them to the side. HENRY Ok. INT. HOUSE - MORNING

Eric and Tom are carrying the large purple felt pool table up the stairs. It's really heavy.

ERIC Do we need the skid for this? TOM No, this is fine. EXT. HOUSE - DAY The truck gets slowly filled through a series of viewmaster stills. Each still turns clockwise to the next still/stage of progression. Big pieces go in first and boxes and miscellaneous stuff thereafter. Tom is often in the truck arranging the pieces. When the truck is full, the door is closed and locked and the truck is driven onto the street. Alec arrives with the new smaller truck and that backs into the driveway. The back door is opened, the ramp is pulled out, and that truck slowly gets halfway filled. The door closes. EXT. OVERHEAD NEW HOUSE - AFTERNOON There is a giant pair of panties on the front lawn of the new house beside the truck. The three men are near the back of the truck. Tom walks up the ramp and into the truck. He comes back out holding a large white rope and motions to Eric and Henry. They get on the ramp and take hold. All three pull together with all of their might to dislodge a giant used tampon from the back of the truck. INT. BEER STORE - NIGHT Eric is buying a case of beer at the counter. The truck is outside. EXT. WAREHOUSE - NIGHT The truck is parked. The three movers stand around a picnic table with the beers on it. TOM You guys want to go to the shop? HENRY Yeah sure. ERIC Sounds good to me. INT. TOM'S JIMMY - NIGHT

The three of them are in the car driving to the shop. EXT. THE SHOP - NIGHT Tom, Henry, and Eric are outside the garage Tom calls the shop. Tom knocks on the door. There is no answer. He produces a key and opens the door. ERIC Oh, I forgot the beers in the car. INT. THE SHOP/GARAGE - NIGHT Tom and Henry walk inside. The space is cluttered with old car parts and equipment. There is a circular clearing with a tree stump and some beach chairs. TOM Henry, have a seat. Henry does so. Tom goes over to an old radio and turns it on. Eric comes in with the 24 of Molson Canadian. He sits down, tears open the box, and starts passing out beers. ERIC One for you One for you Eric takes one for himself. ERIC Hey Henry, you got anymore of that weed? HENRY Yeah, I'll roll a joint. TOM (jokingly) Wanna 'moke a doint? HENRY Eric, can you roll a joint? ERIC Sure... Henry notices a guitar.

HENRY Hey Tom, there's a guitar. Can I play it? TOM It's Johnny's. HENRY Whose Johnny? TOM He works with a different moving crew. I'm sure that would be alright. Henry takes down the guitar case, opens it, and takes the acoustic guitar out. He sits back down and starts playing along with the song on the radio. ERIC Hey, you're pretty good. Henry stops playing. HENRY I don't really feel like playing. He puts the guitar back in the case and sits down. Then he gets up and walks over to the case of beer. He takes out a bottle. HENRY I've got an idea. TOM I'll turn the music down a bit. He does so. Henry opens the beer and places it on the floor in front of an empty chair. HENRY This is for Ricky who I wish was with us. Henry sits back down in his seat. ERIC This joint is ready. HENRY Go ahead, light it up.

Eric lights the joint, takes a few deep inhales, and passes it to Tom. Tom takes a couple inhales and passes it to Henry. Henry takes a pause to drink some beer and then takes a massive inhale. After a few seconds, he starts coughing like crazy. As he is coughing, he notices something. HENRY Holy smokes, that beer is empty. ERIC (picking up bottle) and it's a Labatt Blue. No one says anything. TOM That's strange. INT. HENRY'S BEDROOM - MORNING Henry is lying in the hammock eating Honey Nut Cheerios cereal out of the box. SUPERTITLE: DAY OFF He studies the ingredients on the side of the box. HENRY (reading aloud) whole grain oat, sugar, oat bran, degermed corn meal, modified corn starch, honey, salt, golden syrup, calcium carbonnet, rice bran oil and/or high monounsaturated canola oil, trisodium phosphoto, tocopherols, wheat starch, natural almond flavour, niacinamide, calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin b4), folate, iron He eats a bit more. LATER ON: Henry is sitting by his desk in his underwear and cradling a cherry burst stratocaster guitar. He plays a little bit; it sounds like the Velvet Underground. He stops playing.

EXT. TOWNHOUSE - MORNING Eric and Tom carry a large dollhouse out of the townhouse. INT. HENRY'S BEDROOM - NIGHT Henry is sitting at his desk. He wears sunglasses while a candle stuck to the table burns peacefully. HENRY (softly) Tommorrow is Halloween. It starts raining softly on the roof. INT. HENRY'S BEDROOM Henry is lying in bed with a towel over his face. He reaches up to lift it. EXT. WAREHOUSE - MORNING A passing plane is reflected in the lustre of a car hood. Eric is putting the dollies into the truck. Henry is stretching near the front of the truck. Tom walks out of the warehouse. TOM Are you stretching? HENRY Yeah. TOM That's a good idea. Tom gets into the truck as Eric closes the back of the truck. HENRY Are we going now? ERIC Henry, get in. We'll stretch when we get there. Henry gets into the truck after Eric. INT. TRUCK CAB - MORNING

Tom, Eric, and Henry are sitting in the cab drinking coffees and looking at the traffic. TOM Oh look, there's a limousine. Henry looks at it: it's black and long. TOM (CONT'D) They're probably delivering a big submarine sandwich to someone. They keep rolling. EXT. TOWNHOUSE - MORNING The movers stand outside of the front door, upon which a skeleton is hanging. Tom knocks. A middle-aged woman opens the door. WOMAN Trick or treaters ERIC (smiling) Dressed as movers. WOMAN Come in. TOM Hi, I'm Tom. This is Eric and Henry. They go in. INT. TOWNHOUSE - MORNING The woman leads them through to the kitchen. Her daughter is carving a pumpkin on the table. She scoops out some orange flesh and dumps it on a plastic bag. WOMAN This is Scarlet. HENRY Hi. SCARLET Are you guys thirsty?

TOM I'm ok. ERIC No thanks. HENRY Yes. Scarlet stands and goes to the fridge. She turns her back as she pours a drink; she brings it to Henry. SCARLET Here's some apple juice. HENRY My favourite, thanks. (takes a swallow) TOM Are you carving a pumpkin there? SCARLET Yes. It's going to show a bat. WOMAN It's for the kids tonight. Henry finishes his apple juice. He puts the glass down on the counter. CUT TO: A box being tossed onto the shelf with others at the back of the truck's inside. Eric walks away. Tom is packing the truck. Henry walks up the ramp and into the truck carrying a box. TOM 45 years Still moving Henry puts the box down. EXT. TOWNHOUSE YARD - DAY Henry opens the sliding door and goes through to the yard, closing the door behind him. He looks at the fence.

Scarlet shows up at the door and knocks. She opens the door and profers another glass of apple juice in her hand. SCARLET Are you more thirsty? She stretches out her hand holding the apple juice and Henry reaches and takes it. HENRY (looking at it) 360. He turns the glass a little and then drinks all of it. There is silence for a moment as they stand facing each other. He gives the glass back to her. EXT. HENRY'S DOOR - NIGHT Scarlet is wearing black and also goth makeup as she stands outside Henry's door. She pushes his buzzer and waits with a bunch of posies in her hand. The round doorknob is turned from the inside. Henry opens the door; he is wearing a tuxedo shirt and jeans. HENRY Hi Scarlet. SCARLET 180 for free. (offers flowers) HENRY (taking them) Come in. He opens the door and Scarlet walks in. INT. HENRY'S APARTMENT - NIGHT Scarlet is sitting at a round table while Henry brings a prepared plate to the table. There are peanut butter and jam triangles on whole wheat bread slices. HENRY (putting them down) I made some p.b. and j. sandwiches.

HENRY CONT'D (going back to the counter) Would you like some red wine? SCARLET That would be grape. Henry pours two glasses of red wine and brings them to the table. He goes back to the counter and takes one more thing. HENRY (setting it down) Thought we could play some ouija board

SCARLET That's a neat trick Henry smiles and rummages in his plaid shirt breast pocket to produce a bent joint. HENRY CONT'D (holding the joint) ...And spark this up. SCARLET and this is a nice treat. EXT. HENRY'S DOOR - NIGHT Ricky stands in front of the door wearing different goth makeup and holding a black balloon on a string. After a pause, he pushes the buzzer. INT. HENRY'S APARTMENT - NIGHT Henry and Scarlet hear the buzzer from inside the apartment. Henry gets up and goes to the door. HENRY That's weird. I'm not expecting anyone. He opens the door and all he sees in the hallway is a black balloon floating and hemmed in by the ceiling. He takes the black ribbon and pulls the balloon inside, closing the door. Henry walks into the living room and ties the balloon to an unoccupied chair's arm at the table.

HENRY Just found this out there. SCARLET Maybe it was a ghost. EXT. SCARLET'S OLD HOUSE - NIGHT The lit-up pumpkin with the bat is glowing in the corner of a darkened window sill of the house. SCARLET CONT'D Maybe we can contact the ghost with the ouija. HENRY I'll get a mover. INT. HENRY'S APARTMENT - NIGHT Henry rummages in a camera bag slung on a chair and takes out the lens cap. He puts it on the board. HENRY Okay, let's both touch the peace and ask a question. They both put their fingertips on the mover. HENRY Hello. How are you? SCARLET Pretty good. HENRY I mean the ghost. Was there a ghost at my door a minute ago? The lens cap remains immobile, then slides slowly to "yes". HENRY Okay spirit, what do you want? The lens cap doesn't move. Then it raggedly moves across the indicate the "o" and "u" of the name "ouija" on top.

HENRY I don't understand. SCARLET Ye-sou. It means Jesus in Spanish. HENRY (picking up joint) Let's puff that magic dragon. Henry lights the joint and passes it over to Scarlet. EXT. HENRY'S BACKYARD - NIGHT The sky is packed with stars. Henry and Scarlet are standing in the backyard looking up. Scarlet has a plaid blanket over her shoulders. Henry lights the joint. SCARLET Thanks for moving me! HENRY It was a pleasure. (passes joint over) SCARLET Thanks. How long have you been a mover? HENRY About four days. SCARLET Will I see you again? HENRY Do you see that star? It's green. SCARLET Yeah. There's a blue one over there. And another beautiful red one here. I guess we're the stars of da weed. HENRY You're my aurora. They kiss. INT. HENRY'S BEDROOM - DAY

Henry is rolling a joint from his bag of weed. It has the star of david markered onto its clear surface. SUB-TITLE: Christmas Eve Day. The cellphone rings. Henry picks it up. HENRY Hello? (after a pause) Yeah Alec, I can come in for a short shift tomorrow. See you at noon. Bye.

EXT. HOOTERS - CHRISTMAS DAY The Red Mite truck backs into the driveway of the Hooters. INT. HOOTERS LOUNGE - LATER Tom is on a ladder unscrewing a large television from its casing on the ceiling of the Hooters restaurant. TOM (to HENRY standing below) We just have to move this television to a new location. EXT. HOOTERS PARKING LOT - LATER Tom and Henry carry the television up the ramp onto the truck and deposit it on some spread out mover's pads. JUMP CUT: Tom is taping the padded television. Henry stands beside the back of the truck. His cellphone rings. HENRY Hello? Oh hey, Scarlet. CUT TO: Scarlet is in a payphone booth. SCARLET Hi. I miss you. Hey Henry, I have a question. What's the one thing that's changed since I last saw you?

BACK TO: HENRY My running shoes are really worn out. I have to buy a new pair of them. SCARLET Do you want to hang out on Boxing Day with David and me? HENRY I'll come over after I buy my new running shoes. Bye. Henry puts his cellphone back in his pocket. Tom is closing the truck's sliding back door. TOM Let's go for coff'. They both walk to the front of the truck. INT. TRUCK'S CAB - DAY Tom and Henry are drinking coffees. HENRY Where's this television going to? TOM Another restaurant. HENRY Is it far? TOM No, not that far. We'll be there in five minutes. INT. NEW RESTAURANT - DAY Tom and Henry are standing on the bar lifting the television to a fixture in the ceiling. They fit it in the casing. TOM Pass me a phillips screwdriver, please.

Henry bends down and takes the screwdriver from the toolbox. He passes it to Tom. Tom starts screwing the television into the casing. INT. RED MITE TRUCK CAB - DAY Tom and Henry are driving back to the warehouse. TOM What are you doing tonight? HENRY R n'r. TOM Cool. HENRY How about you? TOM Going to have dinner with my wife. HENRY I think I'm being haunted by your brother. TOM How? HENRY Well I found drumsticks and a black balloon that he seemed to have left for me. TOM That's strange. HENRY I think he wants us to know that he's alright and happy for our new friendship. I also thinks he's a little lonely. TOM How come I haven't seen him? HENRY I really don't know. TOM Don't worry, be happy. HENRY That's right. INT. HENRY'S BEDROOM - NIGHT There is a cd of "Voices of Algonquin Park" playing. We hear the sound of loons calling over the water. He is smoking a joint. INT. LOCAL MALL OUTSIDE FOOTLOCKERS - MORNING Henry walks into the Footlocker and starts looking at the shoes on the walls. We see the shoes he sees. A employee comes over to help Henry. EMPLOYEE Can I help you? HENRY Yeah, I need new running shoes. Just something basic. Maybe these ones He grabs a black asics off the wall. EMPLOYEE What size are you? HENRY Eleven and a half. EMPLOYEE Kay Be right back. Henry sits down on a couch and takes his old shoes off. The employee emerges from the curtained entrance to the inventory room with a box of shoes. EMPLOYEE Here, try these on. HENRY

(taking them) Ok Henry puts on the right shoe first, laces it, then puts on the left shoe, lacing it up too. He walks back and forth in front of the shoe display. HENRY These fit perfectly. I'll take them. EMPLOYEE Do you want me to put your old shoes in the box to take home? HENRY No, you can just throw them out. EMPLOYEE Alright, you enjoy those new shoes. The employee gives Henry the shoe box and Henry heads for the counter. The cashier swipes his box through the scanner. Henry takes $160 in twenties out of his wallet and gives it to the cashier.

INT. HOSPITAL FOOD COURT - DAY Henry is walking through the food court with a coffee when he sees Scarlet sitting at a table. He sits down and takes off his jacket. He is wearing a pumpkin print medical scrub t-shirt. SCARLET I made lunch for both of us. She unzips her jacket and pulls out two paper plates, putting them on the table. She then pulls out two rice krispie squares. She unwraps them and puts one on each plate. SCARLET Rice Krispie steak. She pulls out two plastic-wrapped cutlery packages and puts one to the right of each plate. Then she pulls out two Kevins CD's and puts them on the table face up. She fishes out a Sprite from her jacket and pops it

open. Then she takes two plastic cups out and puts them down at each place. SCARLET (pouring) Kevin up. SCARLET (CONT'D) Now give me your hand. She takes a pack of raspberries out of her jacket and opens it up. She takes Henry's hand and carefully puts a raspberry on each finger. Henry keeps his hand outstretched with his fingers curling slightly upwards into the air with the raspberries. Ricky leans in from behind some plants between the two of them and whispers: RICKY You're Thomas. INT. HENRY'S BEDROOM - AFTERNOON/EVENING Henry and Scarlet are both lying in the hammock eating honey nut cheerios and smoking a joint. After a while, Scarlet pulls out a chocolate bar from her open jacket. SCARLET Oh Henry for you. Henry takes the chocolate bar and opens it. FADE TO BLACK
