POEM The following poem was written by the first resident of the home. She was sixteen years old then. It is entitled "Daddy." DADDY When I think of my daddy, I get a pain deep in~ide. I never really understood him; but then I guess I never really tried. I wish now I had been more understanding and had shown him that I cared a lot. But I never had the chance not even as a little tot. Oh daddy, I'm sorry that I turned out the way I did. I didn't know how hard you and mom would suffer, for all the wrong doing I hid. I guess I should have known that I couldn't keep anything from my mom and dad. It seems I should have listened at times to the -thi gs you and she said. But I wanted to live my own life, and be my own boss, but I made a blunder of it and look at what I lost. I lost a daddy, that could have been a lot to me. I was just too dumb to listen and too blind to see. . I wanted so bad at times to just put my arms around your neck and tell you how much I loved you and if you did care. And tell you I was your little girl and let you kiss my hair. I needed your love so badly, and wanted you so much. But you seemed not to notice nor feel very touched. I know its too much to ask you to forgive me. After all the pain I sent your way, but I wish dear daddy'l could just feel that you see, I miss you and love you more with every passing day.
