Step 1: You need to have 4 measurements to help you determine the size of the pattern you need for your dog & make adjustments accordingly. Center Back Length: measure from shoulder/neck base to the begining of the tail. Neck Circumference: measure around the shoulder/neck base. Girth Circumference: measure the widest part where the rib cage is. Center Front Length: measure from the shoulder/neck base to at least 2-3 inches away from the pee pee area Chest Width: measure the distance between the front legs at shoulder

Materials: 1) Fabric of your choice, yardage varies depending on pattern size, fabric width & shrinkage. Approx. fabric yardage [ ] X-Small - Small: 1/2 yard of 45 [ ] Medium - Large: 3/4 - 1 yard of 45 [ ] X-Large: 1 - 1 1/2 yard of 45 2) Closure: determine what kind of closure you would like to have, snaps or velcro or others. Snaps / Velcro size varies depending on the size the dress you are making. Make sure you compensate placket width when you determine the kind of closure you want. I have use a 3/8 snap, 5/8 placket width nished. 3) Bias Tape: making your own bias tape is optional, you have to have it for the armhole. 4) Fusible: Optional Step 2: Pre- nished 5 Ru e Panels: [ ] nish the hem of the ru e [ ] shirred the ru e to match the Back Panel, label your panel to avoid confusion when you sew it to the garment Step 3: Back Panel: [ ] clean nish the hem Step 4: Back Panel & 5 Ru e Panels: [ ] stitch all the Ru e Panels to the Back Panel
Ru Ru Ru Ru Ru e 1 is place at top along the neck e 2 is place matching at armhole e 3 is place at side seam with approx 1 1/4 at armhole e 4 is place at side seam e 5 is attached approx 1 1/4 at side seam hanging

] stitch a horizontal buttonhole underneath the 1st Ru e Panel (buttonhole is for the harness extension to come out for the leash)

Step 5: Front Panel: [ ] nish the hem [ ] fold & stitch placket or you can add a separate placket, it all comes down to what kind of closure you want. I use 3/8 snap, my bend back placket is 1/2 [ ] stitch the Front Panel to the Back Panel at Side Seam Step 6: Armhole Binding: [ ] either use the bias strip you have cut on self-fabric or use bias tape you have purchased. a) stitch on the wrong side rst (right side bias strip against wrong side Front/Back Panel) b) After stitching it on, turn over to the right side Front/ Back Panel edge stitch the Armhole Binding.
(Make sure when you top stitch, stitches are also catching on the bottom AH/B as well)

Step 7: Neck Panel: [ ] Press the Neck Panel seam allowance [ ] nish both end of the Neck Panel [ ] sandwich & pin the Front Panels neck to the Neck Panel on both side [ ] sandwich & pin the Back Panel neck to the Neck Panel, making sure both armhole has the same opening distance at the based of the Neck Panel [ ] stitch the Neck Panel on the right side all around the neck panel Step 8: Closure (s): [ ] stitch your velcro [ ] apply snaps [ ] stitch a zipper Step 9: Little Bow is optional [ ] make a little bow & tack it down on the left hand side at the neck.
