As we discussed in the beginning of the unit sex ed is a values driven topic. These issues are inherently controversial themselves because although there are facts that may help you understand them ultimately you see these facts through the prism of your own perception (values, morals, upbringing, etc.). The sources listed are just a starting point, remember that any information may be biased and it is your job as an educated consumer to carefully analyze information for validity, reliability, and bias. Topic 1: The HPV Vaccine Debate

Basic Overview: Should kid get HPV vaccine or not? The point of vaccine is to protect people from HPV, but it has been reported that it had some serious side effects.

This does not promote promiscuity because patients must know that this vaccine cannot protect all cases of cervical cancer and genital wart.

The immunity that occurs when an entire group of animals or people become immune to a particular infection, as with universal vaccination. So far, there were group of people refuse to get this vaccine cause the side effects of this vaccine.

Basic Overview: Emergency Contraception allows people to prevent from being pregnant.

One side of people believe EC will lower the number of unintended pregnancies and abortions, Other is saying that using EC amounts to an abortion

I think it promoted people not taking accountability of their choices. People didn't directly make the choice that they want a baby, but their carelessness on protection had made the decision for them. So, things like Plan B had definitely helped them to avoid taking the consequences of being carless.

Its similar because their use were not having a baby. The difference is that Plan B prevents pregnancy primarily, and abortion pill get rid of baby after a pregnancy had started.

What does a schools condom availability program look like? Who gets condoms, where, when and how?

To students who from K-12,at school, they get condom from teachers and nurse or vending machine.

So the big question is how would condom availability affect the student body? Does it promote unhealthy behavior or are you providing a healthy outlet for those that will do it anywaysif so is it even a schools place to get involved?

School is just try to educate students to do the right things, but providing such program will have many effects on students. Both
