Small description of the match (extra-ordinary incidents etc.): Like most games in this year's Confederations Cup, it was yet another disappointing turn out in the Atatrk Stadium, Bursa. It was a quite tedious affair in all honesty between New Zealand and Uruguay with the latter dominating precedings from the outset. They took the lead in the 4th minute with a wonderful free-kick by URU #10. New Zealand never really threatened and with fifteen minutes left on the clock, Uruguay sealed the victory through URU #11. This defeat condemns New Zealand to elimination while Uruguay are still in with a chance of finishing top of Group F.

Crucial Decisions (refer to penalty kicks, sending-off situations etc.) Minute and Description of the Scene / Assessment of the referee s decision

Basic Observations (refer to the general application of the LotG, highlight the referee s tactical approach, personality, match control, management of the teams and players, teamwork etc.). Please deploy short but precise and detailed sentences! Positive Points Foul detection. Undiano excelled here and this was one of the outstanding 1. aspects to his performance. Undiano showed excellent fitness. He was always close to play and did well to 2. keep-up with counter-attacks. Points for Improvement My only point of criticism would be the awarding of a free-kick to Uruguay in the 57th minute. NZL #11 trips over the ball and attempts to get back on his feet. 1. However, Undiano believes he is obstructing the ball even though he is approximately 15 yards from the scene. Very harsh decision and Uruguay recieve a free-kick in a very promosing position.

Further observations (peculiarities of the referee revealing his character) Alberto Udiano was very assertive in decision making. When a player stepped out of line he would tell them in no uncertain terms what the consequences would be if they commit another offense. One peculiarity could be that Udiano used the foam for marking where the ball should be placed and where the wall should stand very irregularly. In one freekick situation he would use it and the next he won't.

Assistant Referee 1
Please assess the first assistant referee s performance. Minute and Description of the Scene / Assessment of the AR s behaviour Ral Cabaero was not challenged in this particular outing and only had to make two offside decisions. The first decision was not difficult and you would expect 55',58' Cabaero to get it right. However, the second decision was an excellent call. Great positioning to see that the attacker's arms and legs were not level with the defence.

Assistant Referee 2
Please assess the second assistant referee s performance. Minute and Description of the Scene / Assessment of the AR s behaviour Just like his colleague, Eduardo Daz was a bystander for most parts of the 80' match. He only had only had one offside decision to make and it was correct even though it wasn't difficult.

Fourth Official
Please assess the fourth official s performance. Minute and Description of the Scene / Assessment of the fourth official s behaviour full time Nothing remarkable. Completed all his duties without bother.
