ISE Design Suite 11 –
Complex Design Made Logical
Domain-specific Methodology for Targeted
Logic
Design Platforms
The ISE® Design Suite 11 is truly a next-generation advance in Xilinx FPGA design environments, offering unprecedented benefits in
three distinct but interrelated categories; productivity, time to design completion, and quality of results. In addition, the ISE Design Suite
provides a tighter connection between embedded and DSP flows to enable integration of designs that contain embedded, DSP, IP,
and user blocks in one system. To better serve users familiar with differing design environments, the new ISE Design Suite 11 provides
specific accommodations for designers ranging from the push-button user to the ASIC designer.
Instead of addressing the problem in terms of individual fixed tools, the ISE Design Suite targets the required or preferred methodology
for each user to better address their specific needs with the appropriate design flow. At this level, the design language may change
from HDL (VHDL/Verilog) to C, C++, Matlab® software from The Mathworks, or other higher level languages which are more widely
used by these designers. Likewise, design abstraction moves up from the block or component level to the system level. The result is
a methodology and complete design flow tailored to each user profile that provides complete design creation, design implementation,
and design verification. ISE Design Suite 11 will be offered in four different configurations aligned to your preferred methodology—logic,
embedded, DSP or system design.

Benefits
Event System - Like a reflex in the human body, the innovative XMEGA Event System enables inter-peripheral communication without CPU or
DMA usage. This ensures 100% predictable and short response time. Up to 8 simultaneous events or interrupt conditions in the peripherals can
automatically start actions in other peripherals.
Real 12-bit ADC and DAC - For high analog accuracy the XMEGA features high-speed 12-bit analog peripherals. Capable of up to 2 Msps,
XMEGA’s ADCs deliver the fastest sample rate and most accurate result compared to conventional MCUs. Since XMEGA also features two 12-
bit digital-to-analog converters (DAC) with up to 1 Msps and four advanced analog comparators, XMEGA microcontrollers have leading analog
integration.
DMA Controller - A 4-channel DMA Controller enables fast, CPU independent data transfer that significantly boosts performance. The DMA
Controller in XMEGA handles transfers between all combinations of data memories and peripherals. The AVR CPU register file and multiple bus
layers ensures that the data bus is always accessible for the XMEGA DMA Controller.
Programmable Multilevel Interrupt Controller - All peripherals have software selectable interrupt levels and different interrupt vectors.
Important interrupts are executed immediately and tasks are prioritized with minimum latency.
Second Generation picoPower - Atmel’s picoPower technology have proven to be the industry leader in low power designs. With the
2nd generation picoPower technology, XMEGA MCUs run a Real-Time Counter, Watchdog Timer and Brown-out Detector with only 2 ìA current
consumption. The XMEGA also incorporates true 1.6 volt operation and elements like dynamic clock switching, and frequency scaling for optimal
power management.

Power & Battery Management
0.5A/1A/2A 29V Non-Synchronous
Buck High Power LED Drivers
From High Voltage to 0.5, 1 or 2 Amps of
Brightness in a Single Design
The XRP7603, XRP7604 and SP7600 are a series of non-synchronous voltage mode PWM step down converters optimized to drive a
string of high power LEDs at respectively up to 500mA, 1A and 2A of continuous current. A wide 4.5V to 29V input voltage range allows
for single supply operations from industry standard 5, 12 or 24V power rails.
A 1.2MHz constant operating frequency allows for small external components selection while an internal control loop compensation
reduces the overall component count and solution footprint. With a 2.5% output setpoint accuracy and an input feedforward control,
these devices improve stability as well as typical transient and regulation responses. Dimming and shutdown mode is provided via
an enable function when required. A programmable over current and under voltage lock out protection insures safe operations under
abnormal operating conditions.
The XRP7603, XRP7604 and SP7600 are pin-to-pin compatible providing the most fl exibility when designing evolutive and scalable
lighting solutions and are offered in a compact thermally enhanced RoHS compliant “green”/halogen free 8-pin SO package.

Power & Battery Management
The LTC3605 uses internal N-channel switches with RDS(ON)s of only 35mΩ and 70mΩ to deliver efficiencies as high as 96%. Its low
minimum on-time allows low duty cycle operation at high switching frequencies. The LTC3605’s PolyPhase® operation (up to 12
phases) allows multiple regulators to be cascaded, running out of phase to minimize input and output capacitance. Current mode
operation offers fast transient response while simplifying compensation. Additional features include output tracking and a shutdown
current of only 15µA.
The LTC3605EUF is available in a 4mm x 4mm QFN-24. Pricing starts at $4.25 each in 1,000-piece quantities
