Position: Duties: Lead Instrument and Controls Engineer Manage and supervise team of engineers, designers and contractors. Provide electrical, communications, instrumentation and control solutions for Bechtels Mining and Metals group. Consult with clients and vendors on all phases of the project. Daunia - Coal Mine As the responsible engineer for the following packages I was required to interpret BMA requirements and standards, prepare bid documents for tender, technically evaluate the bids and make recommendations for a suitable vendor: Plant Control System CCTV Control Valves Instrumentation CISCO Network Communication Hardware, Fibre Optic Network Rajant Inpit Wireless System P25 Trunked Radio System Mine Communications (Server Room) All packages were successfully delivered on schedule with vendor data reviewed and incorporated into the site-wide designs. Substantial overlap with other systems required detailed design work around the vendor hardware resulting in numerous drawings detailing the integration work required by the electrical contractor. As the Lead Instrument and Control Engineer it was my responsibility to produce the following deliverables: System block diagrams (architectures) for the fire detection and alarm system, fibre optic network, mine data network and process control network. I/O List and SCADA requirements. Process Control Equipment Schedule Mine Data Network Equipment Schedule Instrumentation schematics, loop and termination drawings. Location and layout drawings. Typical Installation drawings. Datasheets. Communication Rack designs. Throughout the project I had access to various contractors, designers and functional staff whom I closely supervised and utilised in the preparation of the above deliverables.
