This system consists of 2 Nos of centrifugal pumps meant for initial filling of the Unit. These pumps are connected to 2 Nos of DM water storage tank and through its associated pipe line Boiler fill pump (Main) delivers DM water to Unit No 1 and 2 for boiler initial filling as well as deaerator initial filling. Boiler Fill pump meant for Auxiliary boiler delivers DM Water to Auxiliary boiler. Pump Parameter (Main Boiler) a) Capacity b) Pressure c) No. of Pumps 1.2 : 200 CUB. M/HR : 18 KSC (Design) : 2 Nos.

Boiler Fill Pumps (Main) are common for both Units. Pump parameter (Auxiliary Boiler) a) Capacity b) Pressure c) No. of Pumps : 20 CUB. M/Hr. : 10 KSC (Design) : 2 Nos.

Erection of the following are completed. a) 2 Nos DM water storage tank (Common for station) b) All associated suction and discharge lines of the pumps up to receiving point. 7.3 7.4 7.5 7.6 All permanent supports of systems of both Boiler fill pumps and DM make up pumps are erected as per drawing. Pump bearings are lubricated as per recommendation. Cleanliness of DM water storage tank ensured and DM water filled up to required level. Electrical connection to Motor is completed with recommended protections and the requited mock start / stop conducted satisfactorily under pump and motor in decoupled condition. Insulation Resistance of the motor measured and confirmed OK. All local and remote indication of pump and Tank are made ready. List of Indications, interlocks and protections required are made mutually by BHEL and NTPC. Sealing and cooling water lines (if applicable) are laid and connected to pumps.

Plant area: BOILER PROCEDURE FOR COMMISSIONING OF BOILER FILLING PUMP (FOR MAIN & AUXILIARY BOILER) / DM MAKE UP PUMPS AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEM STATUS SLNO 8.0 8.1 8.2 METHOD Under decoupled condition, start the motor and check direction of rotation. Motor started and 8 Hrs trial run completed. During the trial run, observations are made for normal vibration and bearing temperatures. Pump and motor coupled and the pump lined up from DM water storage tank back to tank through re-circulation line keeping the discharge valve closed. Pump started at local and put under 8 Hrs trial run through RC line. During the trial run, pump vibration, load current, bearing temperatures, suction and discharge pressures are logged. DM water line from the pump up to the delivery terminal are lined up and pump started and run for duration mutually agreed between BHEL & NTPC for flushing the lines one by one. For this flushing, a suitable opening to be made at the delivery terminal point for discharging flushed water.
