July 2013 Dear Friend, Greetings to you from everyone at the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church. I'm so glad to be a part of the kingdom of God! The Lord is moving by His Spirit and it's exciting to see people respond to His Word and His will. Jesus told us in Matthew 5:14, "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid." If we carry Jesus in our hearts we will act and think like He does. So it is important for us to understand what the Lord is like. He doesn't hold grudges against anyone. He doesn't hate anyone. He doesn't speak evil of anyone. He is kind to the just and the unjust. His rain falls on the unthankful and unholy as well as the good and righteous. His deity is undeniable, but He told us, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" (Matthew 5:48). Wow! How can I, as an imperfect human being, be perfect as our heavenly Father? We all have a lot of work to do to accomplish this! But He spent a whole chapter before saying this, teaching us how to be "perfect." I must understand His definition of the word perfect. The word "perfect" here means. complete, both mentally and morally; to be of full age. Paul told us in one place that when he was a child he talked like a child, he understood like a child, and he thought like a child; "...but when I became a man, I put away childish things" (I Corinthians 13:11). Why would God want us to "grow up?" Because there is a big world out there that is in darkness as far as the knowledge of God is concerned. We are responsible to live the Christian life before them so they can know the Lord in the day of His visitation. I may be wrong, but I believe the Lord will visit each of us in some manner and if a person knows what Jesus is like because you follow Him, then they will be able to recognize Him for themselves! The Bible gives us direction on what makes up a mature Christian. The first thing we must understand is that we are not God! Though He is trying to instill in us "family traits," God is God alone! There is no one like Him and there is nothing that compares to His Majestic ways! He is pure light, the Bible says, and in Him is no darkness at all. He doesn't have a hidden agenda

or any secrets that He is ashamed of. He is not "evolving" into God. He not only created all things, but He desires to fill us with His presence! There's a minister I know who told the story of one day his wife went to the store and left him with the children and a couple of the neighborhood kids, too. He told them how simple it is to receive the Spirit of God in their lives. So he took a candle and lit it. He said that is like the Holy Spirit. When He touches our hearts we start to glow like the flame on the candlestick. These children understood what he was getting at and they began asking God to light up their lives. As they opened their hearts to Him, they received the Holy Spirit. When his wife came home she was surprised to see her children crying and praising the Lord, filled with the Spirit! Sometimes all people need is a simple illustration like that to enable them to open their hearts to the Lord and allow Him to fill them. The song writer said, "It only takes a spark, to get a fire going; Then all who gather 'round, can warm up to it's glowing. That's how it is with God's love, once you've experienced it; It's fresh like spring, you want to sing, you want to pass it on!" Let the Lord touch you today with the flame of His Spirit. He will do a work in you that you could never imagine and He will make your faith come alive again! The Scripture says, "Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen." (Ephesians 3: 20 & 21). May God abundantly bless you this month (and always!) and please remember that we are praying for you.
