CISCO VPN CLIENT INSTALLATION

Note: It is recommended that the Nortel Contivity VPN Client to be uninstalled only when Cisco VPN Client is successfully installed and user can tunnel in via the latest Cisco VPN. 1. Click on the Unzip button to run the VPN setup automatically.

2. Click "Next".

3. Click "Yes".

4. Click "Next".

5. Click Next

6. This window will appear while the software updates your computer's settings. It may take a few minutes to complete.

7. Select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now", then "Finish".

8. Create the new Cisco VPN client shortcut icon to your desktop by going to Start - Programs - Cisco Systems VPN Client - VPN Client. Configuring Cisco VPN Client Connection Entries Settings 1. Call x2020 or x8070 Application Services for the Group Authentication Name and Group Password. This is based on your business unit (i.e. systems, news, etc) 2. Locate the Cisco VPN Client shortcut icon on your desktop and launch it 3. Double-click on the New button.

3. The Connection Entry field should have the following syntax: news for Newsroom user profile nytsys for Systems user profile nytd for Digital user profile nytconsult for Consultants user profile nytusr for Business/Corporate user profile

4. Leave the Description field blank 5. The Host field is: tsc3k.nytimes.com 6. In the Authentication tab, we will be using only the following ID Names for Group Authentication: nytsys nytusr news nytd nytconsult for Systems users for Business/Corporate users (i.e. Advertising, Marketing, Corp HR) for Newsroom users for NYTimes.com users for all consultants (i.e. SAP)

***the group password (or shared key) will be provided by x2020 / Application Services groups 7. Sample screen shot of a completed connection entry profile is shown below:

8. Under the Transport tab, the Enable Transparent Tunneling and the IPSec over UDP (NAT / PAT) options have to be selected.

9. Leave other setting options selected by default 10. Click on the Save button to save the profile Connecting to Cisco VPN Client Tunnel 1. Locate the Cisco VPN Client shortcut icon on your desktop and launch it 2. Highlight the Connection Entry profile and double-click on the Connect button

3. Enter your New York Times Username. (**if you do not get prompted, please verify that the Group ID and Password have been entered correctly)

4. Enter your PIN and SecurID (i.e. 0954047340 --- WITH NO SPACES). Click OK. 5. Click Continue and you are now securely connected with VPN.
