***MEDIA ADVISORY*** Join us for Bowling for Chappie at Viejas Bowl

SAN DIEGO Viejas Bowl in conjunction with The San Diego Police Officers Associations Widows and Orphans Fund will
be hosting a Bowling Night at Viejas Bowl to benefit Detective James Chappie Hunters recovery following an off duty motorcycle resulting in serious injuries, including the loss of his left leg below the knee. Half of all the bowling and prize proceeds will go to aid Chappies recovery. WHAT: Bowling For Chappie: Includes food and soft drinks, raffle drawings, and music. WHO: The event is open to the public and welcomes all to participate. Known participants will include Chappie Hunter, active and retired San Diego police officers, and community leaders. BACKGROUND
On the evening of June 16, off-duty Detective James Chappie Hunter was involved in a motorcycle accident in Alpine. The incident resulted in severe injuries, including the loss of his left leg below the knee and internal injuries, including severe muscle detachment within an arm. The POA has set up a fund with the SDPOAs Widows & Orphan Fund in the name of Detective Chappie Hunter. Information on how to donate can be found at the bottom of this message. Chappie is a well-respected Detective who trains officers around the country in Domestic Human Trafficking. He has a wife and young son and is currently assigned to sex crimes investigations. Recently, he was part of the team that passed proposition 35, anti-human trafficking legislation, which set the record as the most popular initiative in California history.

About the San Diego Police Officers Associations Widows and Orphans Fund
The Widows & Orphans Fund is an important part of the San Diego Police Officers Association. In the tragic event of a members death, the Widows & Orphans Fund provides monetary support to the members beneficiary. The SDPOA Widows & Orphans Fund also provides assistance to our members in the case that they are faced with other tragic events, such as the loss of a spouse or child. The San Diego Police Officers Association raises money each year through fundraisers, sponsorships and private donations to ensure that the Widows & Orphans Fund is available to support our members and their families in their greatest time of need.
