What's New ASTER GDEM distribution started on June 29, 2009. Backlog Download (October 22, 2009) The number of tiles recorded in backlog and ready to download has been increasing.Unless downloading is completed within 72 hours after Ready to Download Notice is emailed to user's registered email address, this downloading moves into reprocessing, which is expected to require substantial time to complete. Therefore, it is strongly recommendable for user to download promptly after receiving Ready to Download Notice From October 16, maximum 1000 tiles became downloadable. If you try to download more than 100 tiles, the first 100 tiles are immediately downloaded. Meanwhile, the 101st or later tiles are recorded in backlog, and prepared to be downloaded when system has enough resources. You can check the status of your downloading on Backlog reference page, and download prepared tiles from there. Ready for Download Notice will be emailed to your registered email address. Unless downloading is completed within 72 hours from ready to download, this downloading is re-placed at the end of the waiting list. Also, the second downloading is regarded as cancelled if it is not downloaded within 72 hours.

We have re-started batch download for 100 tiles from 27 August. In case that the download session is open and you try to download 100 tiles, the general guideline for the shortest waiting time is as below: 1. Waiting time until start of download: 15 minutes 2. Time to download tiles: 40 minutes If the server becomes busy with many download requirements, it takes more time to wait and download, and your download session could get cut off according to the circumstances. In addition, please note that download will be blocked by Internet Explorer at the first download after moving into download screen if you use Internet Explorer.
