-Draw your pattern like the one pictured at the left.

-Put your fabric down and trace the pattern out.The straight edge is your fold. Your bag should also be 11" from top to bottom.

-Cut two of these pieces out.

-Unfolded your bag should be 22" long at the top and 12 1/2" long at the bottom.

-Cut one strip of outer fabric that is 6" x 36" long

-Pin the strip to one of the outer pieces. (right sides together) -Now sew it together. -Pin the other outer pieces to the strip and sew it.

-You should have a super wide bag similar to the picture at the left.

-Repeat steps one and two for the lining. -If you want to add pockets, add them before sewing the lining together. -Pin the lining pieces right sides together and sew. -Set the lining aside for now.

Grab the outer shell...

-Starting at the center of the bag make four pleats on each side.

-Make inverted pleats on the side panel

-After pleating, your bag should be about 11" wide at the top laying flat. -Baste (wide) stitch it all the way around the top to hold the pleats together. (Be careful when stitching. I messed my pleats up here and had to start over)

-Set aside

Grab the lining...

10

-Sew a baste stitch all the way around the top of the lining. -Pull the bottom thread to gather the lining until it is the same size as your outer shell (11") -Tuck the lining into the outer shell as illustrated. The wrong side of the lining should face the wrong side of the outer shell. -Baste stitch them together. Your bag is starting to take shape!!

Let's make the straps... -Cut two pieces that are 20"x6"

11

-Fold and press the edges in 1" so pieces are 4 inches wide. -Then fold the entire piece in half and press.

-Stitch the edges together

12

-Mark one inch from each end then fold the strip in half again.

-Starting at on of the marks, sew along the stitch you just made until you get to the other mark. -Press the ends flat Set aside

For the band... -Cut two pieces that are 24"x6" -Press the edges in 1"

13

14

-Pin one piece to the inside of the bag as illustrated. -Sew along the bottom of the strip -Now pin the other piece to the outside of the bag and sew along the bottom as well.

15

-From the outside, your bag should look like the picture. -Pin the other piece to the outside of the bag and sew along the bottom

16

-Pin the two band pieces together along the top -As you pin, position the straps between the two band pieces and pin them in as well -Sew everything together Almost there!!

Let's make the bow...

17

-Cut two rectangles that are 10"x7 1/2" -Pin them right side together and sew. Leave a small opening in the center of one of the long side for turning it right side out.

18

-Cut a small rectangle that is 1 1/2" wide and 2-3" long. -Press the edges in 1/4" so the strip is 1" wide

19

-Fit the small rectangle around the larger one.

20

-Sew the ends together to form your bow. -Hand stitch the bow to the center front of the bag. Drumroll please...

Ta dah!!!!

You have your very own Anthropologie Inspired Ile Saint-Louis Bag!!!

1 First you cut like crazy. Cut a long strip of each the main fabric and lining for the strap. 6x38 inches Cut 2 large squares out of both the main fabric and the lining for the body of the bag. 18x18 inches Cut a rectangle of the lining for an interior pocket. 8x16 inches Fuse interfacing to the pocket piece!

Here is everything.

2. Here is where it gets interesting We are going to shape our bag. Take all four of your big squares and stack them up. (Outside fabric with wrong sides together and then lining fabric with outsides together.)

Fold the whole thing in half. Measure 3 inches in from the fold and make a mark. Measure 12 inches up from the bottom right corner and make a mark. Connect the dots! Draw a curve from one mark to the other.

Now cut that curve out.

Open the whole thing and you should have four pieces that look like this.

We are going to do the same thing to the strap by giving it some shape. Put your two strap pieces wrong sides together. Fold in half lengthwise (make shorter)AND THEN widthwise(make thinner). Measure in 1.5 inches from the center fold and make a mark. Draw a line from that point to the bottom corner. Cut that piece out.

Open the whole thing up and you have two gigantic bowtie pieces. . You mean we get to sew now?!! Put the straps right sides together and sew the outside lengths together. Leave the top and bottom open. Then you turn the darn thing inside out and I hate this part! Press flat and topstitch close to the edge along the sides.

Put the strap off to the side and grab the pocket piece and one of the big lining pieces. Fold the pocket piece in half with right sides together. Sew around the pocket, but leave about 2 or 3 inches for turning. Turn it inside out pop out the corners and press it flat.

10

Get the lining piece away from the cat.

11

Center the pocket on the lining piece; pin it down and stitch around the sides you will catch the turning opening when you stitch it down.

12

4. Now were getting somewhere. Put the main body fabric right sides together and stitch along the sides. Do the same with the lining.

13

Flip the lining right side out with the seams now in the middle. Keep the main fabric inside out with the seams now in the middle. Put the lining inside of the main fabric and pin around one of the curves.

Sew around that curve. Do the same thing on the other side. You will leave two openings for the straps.

14

Straps! Feed the ends of the straps up through the bottom of the bag and up through the holes we left. Make sure not to twist it and that the lining of the strap matches the lining of the bag. Pin them in and stitch them down really well.

15

Finishing. Turn the whole thing inside out and match the center seams together. Pin and sew the bottoms closed, but make sure to leave an opening in the lining for turning.

16

Turn it right side out were almost there! Sew the lining closed either by machine or by hand if you want it to be completely reversible. ( I always put my tag in this seam.)

17

Flip the lining inside of the bag. Pin and topstitch around the curves.

Here is 4 pieces of fabrics after being cut. Were gonna refer them as set A and set B. If you want pockets, sew them before going to the next step.

Sew the bottom and sides of each set. My bag has a rounded bottom and a dart, Charlie bag has straight edges. If you use my pattern, sew the darts before sewing the bottom and sides of bag.

Put set B in set A, right sides together, and sew around the straps. Stop stitching about 20 cm before the tops of the straps. If your machine has reverse stitch, use it on each end of stitchings to secure it.

Clip rounded corners.

Turn the right sides out through one of the straps.

It will be a bit difficult at first and youre gonna wonder if youre doing it right, but just keep doing it. You will feel a thug and after that the bag will turn right sides out smoothly.

Pull out each of the remaining straps.

Look! You almost have a bag!

Sew the straps of each set together.I often sew the straps absent-mindedly and then found out that I've attached them wrong! So please make sure that you sew each strap to the strap beside it, NOT the strap that is in front of it.

10

Press the seams open. Fold seam allowances on straps and press.

11

Also press edges of bag to make it easier for topstitching.

12

Match the tops seams together and pin all open edges of straps. You can also use fusible tapes to make sure it is neat. But I will use pins here.

13

Topstitch all edges of bag. I use different colour thread for the bobbin.
