Incident Summaries Friday, July 5, 2013

Incident: Assault 1st (Shooting) Location: 8800 block of N. Broadway Date/ Time: 7/04/13 @ 01:30-02:00 Victim: 33-year old black male Suspect: Unknown The victim stated that as he was driving, he pulled over to urinate and as he entered an alley and exited his vehicle at the above location, he heard a loud sound nearby, which he thought was fireworks. At the time, he was unaware of any injury, so he drove home and went to sleep. When he woke up in the morning, he discovered a gunshot wound to his right leg and conveyed himself to a local hospital and was listed in serious/stable condition. The investigation is ongoing. Incident: Assault 1st (Shooting) Location: 800 block of River Run Ct. Date/Time: 7/04/13 @ 11:20 Victim #1: 22-year old black male Victim #2: 17-year old white male Suspect #1: black male, 28-33-years old, 57, 200 lbs, dreadlocks, grey t-shirt Suspect #2: black male, 22-25-years old, 57, 170-180 lbs, blue jacket, red t-shirt Officers responded to a call for a shooting at the above address and upon arrival no victim was located; however, shortly after, officers were notified of a shooting victim from a local hospital. Victim #1 was listed in critical/stable condition and was unable to make a statement. Victim #2 reported that him and Victim #1 reported to the above address to purchase narcotics from the suspects. When they arrived, the suspects approached their vehicle on foot and demanded their money and belongings and began firing shots into the victims vehicle. Victim #2 was uninjured. The investigation is ongoing. Incident: Assault 1st (Shooting) Location: 4900 block of Farlin Date/Time: 7/04/13 @ Victim: 36-year old black male Suspect(s): unknown The victim stated he was standing on the curb at the above address when two vehicles drove by and fired one gunshot, striking him in the right thigh. The vehicles then fled East on Farlin and south on Euclid out of sight. The victim refused to provide additional information and would not cooperate further with investigators. He was conveyed to a local hospital and listed in serious/stable condition. Following the initial investigation, officers received a call for an auto accident in the 4100 block of North Grand. The driver of the vehicle reported being chased in his vehicle by two vehicles from the 4900 block of Farlin. He stated the occupants of the vehicle fired multiple gunshots at him, striking his vehicle. While fleeing from the suspects, he crashed into the building at 4100 North

Grand and fled on foot. He stated the vehicles did not follow him and left in an unknown direction. The two incidents are believed to be linked. The investigation is ongoing. Incident: Assault 1st, Felony Resisting by Flight Location: 3300 block of Hamilton Date/Time: 7/04/13 @ 23:40 Victim #1: white male security guard (leg injury) Victim #2: white male security guard Victim #3: black male security guard Victim #4: 28-year old black male (in suspect vehicle, shot) Suspect(s): 2-3 additional unknown suspects Three security guards were working in an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Hamilton when the suspects stopped their vehicle nearby and began firing fireworks at the security guards. The security guards walked over to the suspects vehicle to investigate and when the suspect entered their vehicle to flee, Victim #1 was struck by the suspect vehicle. The vehicle accelerated, attempting to throw the victim off the vehicle and in doing so, they struck a parked car. In fear of his life, Victim #1 fired his gun into the windshield. The vehicle went down an embankment and the vehicle struck a building, throwing the guard off against the brick wall. An additional security guard fired his weapon, trying to get the vehicle to stop. Victim #4, a passenger in the vehicle, suffered a gunshot wound to the face and was listed in serious/stable condition at a local hospital. The additional suspects fled from the vehicle and are at large. Victim #1 was conveyed to a local hospital for an injury to leg and was listed in serious/stable condition. The investigation is ongoing. Incident: Robbery 1st, Assault 1st (Shooting) Location: 4500 block of Elmbank Date/Time: 7/05/13 @ 00:25 Victim: 19-year old black male Suspect: 18-year old black male The victim and the suspect got into an argument while in a vehicle in front of the above location. The suspect exited his vehicle, retrieved a firearm and then demanded money and belongings from the victim, to which he complied. The victim then exited the vehicle and was walking away when the suspect fired multiple shots at him. The victim was struck in both legs and was conveyed to a local hospital and listed in serious/stable condition. The suspect was entered as wanted. The investigation is ongoing.
