2013-2014 Mountain View College PRIORITIES

The College Priorities are developed each year by the Planning, Budgeting, and Assessment (PBA) Committee. These priorities consider current environmental factors and reflect the Mission and Goals of the MVC 2013-2018 Strategic Plan. The College Priorities will be used in conjunction with the MVC 2013-2018 Strategic Plan to guide 2013-2014 Budget building.

**************************************************************************************************** Mountain View Colleges primary focus for 2013-2014 will include the following priorities. College resource allocation and/or budget reduction initiatives, unit-level planning, return week themes, professional development activities, grant proposals, and institutional decision-making will be guided by these priorities. TOP PRIORITIES: Enhance student learning (MVC Goals I, II) o Hire additional full-time faculty to maintain proper full-time to part-time ratios o Monitor full-time and part-time faculty ratios and address areas of need annually o Build stronger relationships between full-time and part-time faculty Increase instructional support services in significant and meaningful ways in order to enhance teaching and learning (MVC Goals I, II) o Support initiatives that will improve student success in online classes o Provide faculty development opportunities targeting improved student learning o Support Writing Intensive Courses and the QEP Begin to implement Texas Completes key measures (MVC Goals II, III)

NOT IN PRIORITY ORDER: Comply with SACSCOC requirements to assure MVCs continued accreditation (All MVC Goals) Replace out-of-date computers and classroom instructional technology (MVC Goal II) o Invest in technology that supports student success initiatives Support college-wide student recruitment, retention, persistence, and success initiatives (MVC Goals I, II) o Analyze data to determine initiative effectiveness, and to add new initiatives as needed Provide professional development opportunities for full-time and adjunct faculty, PSS, and administrators (All MVC Goals) Maintain existing facilities and support infrastructures with up-to-date technologies (MVC Goals I, II, V) Support measurable sustainability initiatives (MVC Goal V) Continue efforts to improve budget transparency (MVC Goal V) o Prepare a report card to show how college priorities are being met o Disseminate relevant budget information Support economic, workforce, and community development initiatives to increase revenue (MVC Goals I, V) Maintain inviting campus and virtual environments (All MVC Goals) Maximize space utilization (MVC Goals I, II)
