ON THE COVER
COMMUNAL VISION CONGREGATIONAL COMMITMENT

Do You See What I See?

I want to remind us we are called to this community for a greater work. Everyday we are becoming a caring community committed to strengthening our churchs facility while increasing our congregations faithfulness, as we keep our community in focus. As we are currently not worshiping in our facility (3014 Meadowbridge Road), it is critical that we do everything this within our means to continue the good work weve begun: Our building must be restored and renovated for greater work. It is equally important to increase our congregations faithfulness in stewardship, discipleship, worship, and workmanship. This will call for us to commit to family study and joining ministry. explore ways we can partner and share the load of ministry in our community. The Bethlehem Center property remains in view and by faith I still believe that we can claim it, if indeed its Gods will. It can house an afterschool ministry/daycare and a school where young people can be educated naturally and spiritually in the same place. Further, it should be our desire to be able to purchase other properties around us in order to offer additional services to our community.

Getting Involved

Love In Action
As we turn our vision toward what shall be, we must understand it will not be accomplished with I or YOU, but only with WE. Therefore, as we partner together to call this vision into view; we covenant to show our love for our God, our local assembly, and our community in word and deed as we connect our community with our creator by congregating regularly with this local assembly during times of worship, work, and witness; growing in our commitment to Christ through study, and increasing our care for community, by participating in various service opportunities, as we strive to effectively communicate our faith, in word and deed, so we can all celebrate our God together.

The Immeasurable Investment

As we prepare to supply more effective ministry and heed the encouragement of Jesus who stated, Greater works will you do in my name, it is important to know why we give to the Lord, invest in the work of the church, and sow seed to prepare for a future harvest. Let us reinforce our commitment to give through this scriptural declaration from 2 Corinthians 9:6-8. (Paraphrased)

What is the biblical PRINCIPLE FOR GIVING?

...He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion (2 Cor. 9:10-11)

Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will reap generously. How much should we give? Each of us should give what weve decided in our heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. What is the result of our generous giving? We believe, when we give generously, God is able to bless us abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that we need, we will abound in every good work.

Come Grow With Us!

Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)

Cooperative Outreach Ministry (COM)

COM is a benevolence ministry which offers assistance to persons in our community who may not be affiliated with a church family. This ministry is funded through the gathering of 5 area churches (First Baptist Church of Washington Park, Good Hopewell Baptist, Providence Park Baptist, St. John Baptist Church, and Seventh Street Memorial Baptist) who come together for various worship services throughout the year (Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Thanksgiving, and Christmas). ALL proceeds from those services go toward this effort (no honorariums are given to churches or the ministering preacher) so that the love of our God can be experienced in word and deed. Because this benevolence ministry is TOTALLY dependent on the liberal and voluntary financial gifts from these services and the members of these congregations, we ask all persons to give generously to this effort.

He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the

Richmonders Involved in Strengthening our Communities (RISC)

RISC brings together diverse congregations in order to powerfully address the root causes of poverty and injustice in the Greater Richmond area. RISCs member congregations are located throughout the Greater Richmond area and are diverse in their socio-economic, racial, denominational and geographic backgrounds. Congregations in RISC methodically work together to build relationships, listen to common concerns, research community problems, and then take action to see that systems in the community are held accountable to principles of justice and fairness; making Metropolitan Richmond a better place to live for all.

LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

WHOS NEXT?
As a part of our community, every member is charged with contributing to our growth (in every area) to support the promotion and progress of the vision God has given us, by actively inviting others to join them in worship/study. This can be done by word-of-mouth, social media, email, etc. We will be also preparing a card that can be given to others; indicating directions, contact info, and worship/study times. Who will be the next to bring a new candidate for discipleship?
