INSTRUCTIONS This assignment aims to assess and enhance your focal knowledge of grammar. Choose a simple short story about 500-600 words in length that has already been published. Read the story thoroughly, study its elements of morphology, syntax and semantics and then answer the question below. Identify and analyse the following elements/structures in the short story. Then classify them and discuss their functions or principles involved in creating the groupings of words or phrases. You are required to refer to TWO grammar books to support your answer. Provide THREE examples of each element/structure. morphemes phrase structure (provide tree diagrams) structure and form class words prepositions noun phrase sentence structures relative clauses modal auxiliaries tense and aspect system semantic relations (600 800 words) - 30 marks You must submit the short story together with your assignment.
