HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 16-18; Acts 26 Monday, July 15 Heb. 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Hail Jesus, Youre My King! Martin Luther came out of his prayer closet to declare, I have conquered! He had not even met his adversaries yet, but he knew he had prevailed with God in prayer, and therefore he would prevail over personalities, principalities, and powers in this life. That is the benefit of what you won for me on your cross. I want the sick to be comforted with my words. I want the depressed to be encouraged by my faith. And oh, I want the lukewarm to be recovered by my love! I claim it today in prayer, because that is another benefit from the cross. That I can even ask these things is because of your cross. The cross makes mathematically logical the things mysterious and theological. That is why the Bible contains so many Therefores. Why have I boldness? Because of the crosstherefore. Why are we a multicultural church, joined as brethren in one body? Because of the crosstherefore. (Heb. 10:19). My boldness arises from the perfection of your sacrifice. It has nothing to do with perfection (or imperfection!) in me. It is all do to your merit, and how wisdom brings her own strength with her, Prov. 8:14. Heb. 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. It is true. I believe it. By this confession I affirm Jesus did such a finished work for me that his sacrifice makes me perfect in my standing and perfectible in my state. This is a bold thing to say, much less to pray, but I base it squarely upon his cross! That gives me a mission within this life: 1 Cor. 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 25-27; Romans 1 Thursday, July 18 Matt. 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS TEACHING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 19-21; Acts 27 Tuesday, July 16 Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Savior, Lord and King: My carnal mind always maps-out a way for me to become good, and work my way to heaven. I rationalize with rational lies. But your way is the opposite. Believing, and then displaying that belief, are not matters of merit to take pride in. They are so simple that boasting is excluded. When it comes to heaven, only Gods free grace makes a way! 1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Is __________ or __________ unsaved? What are their reasons? Do they think they have to do some meritorious good work of their own to get to heaven? Do they think they are too bad? Then help me announce the truly good news: God has worked his way to them! He has pledged his own word as confirmation. They think it is too easy: just believe. Surely baptism, at least, is a precondition condition. But no, the verse does not say he that is baptized not shall be damned, but he that believeth not. Holy Spirit, help them to believe! It is so easy that there is no excuse. To believe is simply to trust, to depend, to rely on Jesus Christ. To be baptized is simply to submit to the ordinance Jesus said all his converted and saved ones would agree to as the one way to display their belief. The outward symbol does not save, but it sets my testimony before others of exactly what I am believing in: the finished work of Jesus Christ according to the scriptures, and my walk in newness of life because of my trust in him. There is but one door to eternal life. Give us all grace to enter in. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 28-30; Romans 2 Friday, July 19 Rev. 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. Our Lord and King: The prayers you accept are not the chanting of clerics, the liturgy of priests, the burning of votive candles, or the spinning wheels of Tibetan monks. It must be the prayers of the saints that is heard. As we go through this summer we ask you for special blessings; not to slump, but to soar! Anoint the worship teams to help us praise you. Prepare the preachers to help us hear you. Work through every aspect of the service to bring us your presence in power. Be with us at the Retreat, and then move us, out of ourselves and into the moment of challenge and ministry responsibility. We love to praise you, to meet with saints, and to hear from your word. We come to lift up our souls in adoring love to you, and celebrate what you allow us to do by putting the eternal word of God into the immortal souls of men and women in our city. You must allow us to worship you in a fresh spirit of revival this year! We confess you are great, we plead for your presence, and we desire you to continue to open doors for witness in lost lives, and discipleship in more saints. Bless our all-church Retreat, because what is sweet to you is not the words we use, but the decisions of heart we make. That is the incense, the essence and aroma of sweet spicesa golden vial full of fragrance in our life. It is a spiritual essence we strive for this summer. A subtle knowledge of your presence that causes everyone around to confess your power among us! Do this because Jesus is worthy and we ask it in his name. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 22-24; Acts 28 Wednesday, July 17 2 Kgs. 17:25 And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them. Maker and Master: I read of some who followed their own way, and you sent lions among them. But you drive lions away from those that keep to the hard but right way. Isa. 35:9 No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there: Lions are afraid of fire, and you are a wall of fire around me (Zech. 2:5). I need not fear to tread this pathway to revival. I can fear no evil Lord, as long as you are with me (Psa. 23:4). But to be safe I need to be holy, and to be holy I have to trust in the Holy One, Jesus. Order my steps in your word. Keep me walking in the Holy Spirit. Sincerity is not enough; I need your truth as well. Help me submit my judgment to the word of God (right now). I have an infallible Bible to read, and an infallible Spirit to instruct me in its meaning. Even as we should look to the Strong One for our strength (Job 9:19), so I look to the Wise One for wisdom (Prov. 8:12-14). Jas. 3:13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. True wisdom only exists in meekness. Give me the meekness to keep to the road seeking revival, though many other people beckon me to follow them. Let me not be drawn aside from this quest. Gird up the loins of my mind with your truth. May the Holy Spirit so rest on me that I have rest within me, and no desire to leave the straight and narrow way, even for a moment. Faith is worthless if it gives up. Let me hold on and hold out until I have that which I seek revival! Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 31-33; Romans 3 Saturday, July 20 Psa. 110:3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. Beautiful Savior: You admire holiness. Holiness puts me in a state of eternal youth! Since you ever live, I can live to grow in grace. As your strength never fails, I never have to fail to be strong. The beauties of holiness are my priestly attire, and my garments for glory forever. O Lord Jesus, my security is in you, and therefore I need never be insecure. Psa. 110:5 The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. This will happen at your Second Coming. You will not sit forever in waiting. One day you will return to enter the fray on my side, and end this weary war by your own victorious presence. Even so, come Lord Jesus! When eternal power arrives, all earthly power dies. Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. You will throw your heart into the battle and shorten it in righteousness. My head will be lifted in victory as it is lifted in your glory. You passed this way once, Jesus. But that was when you were burdened with the serious work of your first coming, which was Calvary. In your second advent it will be an easy victory. You reign now, before the Fathers throne. Oh, that you would come even today to rule on this blue orb, which rightly belongs to you as his Son! Come claim and redeem what you purchased by your own blood. We love you, adore you, and worship you for you deserve it. Bring with you the victory over life that you won in your death. Do it even now, Jesus. Amen.

MARVELOUS grace of our loving Lord, grace that exceeds our sin and our
guilt! Yonder on Calvarys mount outpoured, there where the blood of the Lamb was spilled. Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold, threaten the soul with infinite loss; Grace that is greater, yes, grace untold, points to the refuge, the mighty cross. Dark is the stain that we cannot hide. What can avail to wash it away? Look! There is flowing a crimson tide, brighter than snow you may be today. Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace, freely bestowed on all who believe! You that are longing to see His face, will you this moment His grace receive? Grace, grace, Gods grace, grace that will pardon and cleanse within; Grace, grace, Gods grace, grace that is greater than all our sin. Julia H. Johnston, 1911

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92

Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God) Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of walking with us) Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in the Word)
