Operational monitoring includes regular site visits. Advice includes technical issues, maintenance, operations, insurance, and budget.

Repowering at Peterhead gas fired station in Scotland has brought modern CCGT technology to the plant, improving efficiency by 50% and reducing emissions. We provided mechanical, electrical, civil and control engineering services on the project.

We provided owners engineer services for Shoreham 400MW CCGT power station in south-east England.

Services for off-takers Mott MacDonald has advised off-takers wishing to issue power and water purchase agreements as part of a programme of introducing privatised power plant into existing power sectors. These off-takers include the Power and Water Procurer in Oman, the Kingdom of Bahrains Electricity and Water Authority and the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority. These projects normally require Mott MacDonald to provide the technical input to the tendering process, final negotiations and contract award. Central to this process is the development of the power and water purchase agreements which regulate the construction of the plant and the sale of power and water to the offtaker. Selected projects for off-takers Hidd power and desalination plant, Kingdom of Bahrain The Hidd power and desalination privatisation project consisted of the sale of the existing power and water production assets owned and operated by the Kingdom of Bahrains Electricity and Water Authority together with the introduction of an additional 60MIGD of multiple effect distillation desalination plant. We provided technical advisory services during the project definition stage, production of the RfP, development of project documents including the request for proposals, power and water purchase agreement and gas sales agreement. Barka phase 1 independent water and power project This was Omans first integrated water and power plant (IWPP). The project consisted of 427MW of CCGT plant with 20 million gallons a day desalination capacity using multistage flash thermal desalination. As government advisor we produced an inception report recommending the nature of power sector privatisation. This also included details as to the characteristics of the Barka phase 1 IWPP. We also produced a report detailing the project requirements, evaluation criteria and provided all technical input required for the tendering process including the Information to Tenderers (ITT), contract documents, proposal evaluation and final negotiations up to contract award. We also prepared an environmental scoping report, tendered and managed a soil investigation study on behalf of the client. Design services Todays market requires increasingly complex contracts for construction and equipment supply within tight timescales and margins. We offer services in both the overall detailed design of projects and in the management of interfaces between the various designers and suppliers when a multipackage approach is used.
