Annex G (normative) Product specification level 2 (PSL-2)

G.1 General
This annex specifies requirements for product specification level 2 (PSL-2). PSL-2 may be specified by the purchaser or supplied at the option of manufacturer. The requirements for PSL-2 are in addition to those for PSL-1, which form the basis of this International Standard. PSL-2 product is intended to comply with the requirements of ISO 15156-3:2003, ISO 15156-3:2003/Cor 1:2005 and ISO 15156-3:2003/Cor 2:2005 to provide a product that is both corrosion resistant and cracking resistant for the environments and qualification method specified in ISO 15156-3. PSL-2 may include any alloy in a category in Table A.2 or Table C.2, provided all requirements in ISO 15156-3 are fulfilled in addition to the requirements of this International Standard. The marking and packaging requirements for PSL-2 are listed in Clauses G.3 and G.4. WARNING This International Standard was prepared based on ISO 15156-3:2003. It is the responsibility of the purchaser and the manufacturer to be aware of changes in ISO 15156-3:2003 that occur after the publication of this International Standard. Accordingly, if relevant changes in ISO 15156-3:2003 have been made before the third edition of ISO 13680 is published, then such changes should be included on the purchase agreement to ensure that the product purchased performs satisfactorily in oil and gas production. The corrosion-resistant alloys (CRAs) selected using ISO 15156-3 or NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 are resistant to cracking in defined H2S-containing environments in oil and gas production but are not necessarily immune to cracking under all service conditions. It is the equipment user's responsibility to select the CRAs suitable for the intended service. When defining the severity of H2S-containing environments, exposures that can occur during system upsets or shutdowns, etc., should also be considered.
NOTE Some of the higher strength grades listed in Table A.2 or Table C.2 cannot be delivered as PSL-2 because of non-compliance with the ISO 15156-3 requirements.

G.2 PSL-2 tubulars

Material categories and grades, listed in Table A.2 or Table C.2, are assessed for compliance with the applicable requirements of ISO 15156-3. Documented information about deliveries (provided by manufacturers) and use as downhole tubulars (provided by users) is also taken into consideration. This has resulted in Table A.27 or Table C.27, which give specific tensile properties and hardness values, and Table A.28 or Table C.28, which give specific chemical compositions (identified by UNS numbers) extracted from of NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, Part 3, Annex D.

When preparing Tables A.27, A.28, C.27 and C.28, ISO/TC 67/SC 5/WG 3 adopted an intentionally conservative position in order to avoid any misuse of products; consequently, the requirements in these tables are in some cases more restrictive than found in ISO 15156-3:2003. In taking into account experience based on successful laboratory testing and/or satisfactory field experience specific to special applications, values other than those listed in Table A.27 or Table C.27 may be used by agreement between purchaser and manufacturer. However, these values shall be totally consistent with the requirements in ISO 15156-3 at the time of the agreement. Such products may be designated as PSL-2, but
