importance of education, and the NEEMO 9 deep-sea project
 Planned 2nd Venture Girl Guide Day @ MAC, a full-day program for 100 Hamilton Area Guides (aged 9-
12) to earn their science and engineering badges
 Organized magic potion station at Harry Potter book opening at Chapters Bookstore
 Organized monthly visits to the Hamilton Children’s Museum for children aged 5-10
 Organized attendance at community events (Ancaster Fair, and ABC Halton)
 Created marketing plan to sell the camp as “Educational AND Fun” on a $10,000 advertising budget
 Designed and created camp promotional material including brochure, website, signs, and newspaper ads
 Marketing strategies resulted in a record 900 camper registrations (up 11% from 2004)
 Worked with directors to create a week-long instructor training program

 Worked part-time during school year, and full-time in May-August to design and schedule weekly summer
camp curriculum for 800 campers aged 8-13

 Supervised, guided, and trained 6 instructors for their classroom duties
 Responsible for material purchasing decisions, adhering to a $5000 budget
 Ensured that materials and equipment were readily available for all projects
 Supported classrooms by preparing lab experiments, set-up/clean-up schedules
 Planned, and instructed 3 weekly biology dissection labs, and 3 chemistry labs
 In addition to required duties, created a manual to help incoming coordinators

Instructor – Venture Engineering & Science Camp – McMaster University
 Developed hour-long workshops about pulleys and structures, performed in character (as
farmer/Hamilton city worker), including theory, demos, and hands-on project for gr. 3-8
 Developed, organized and instructed 8 weeks of camp curriculum, including a crime scene investigation, a
concrete house, an ecology tour of Cootes Paradise nature reserve, digging for fossils.
 Responsible for the safety and conduct of 20-30 children per week, and dealing with parents.
 Chosen by camp director to organize and schedule science projects for three afternoon visits to
Ohsweken native reserve

 As secretary, recorded minutes and kept discussions focused
