Fatima Freeman ISM 210 April 24, 2013 The Planet 1 The information is clear about The Planet

That We Live On been an environmental group. However, what the organization who/what their services and/or products are does not have a clear statement. The information on the website is very vague. The home page should have as much information about the organization services and/or products. The home page lacks the needed information to invite the user to come back and to search the website further. Plus, the color scheme can be changed and the placement of the logo. The about us and contact page could use a redesign as well. The about us page can have more detailed information about what the organization is offering the user. Plus, the about us page can use more detailed information on the organization services/products that are offered. The contact us page needs a form for the user to interact with the organization. A space for the user to insert their comment/suggestions should be considered. The contact us page should include information on how to contact the organization by email, phone or mail. The contact us page should also provide information that will allow the user to contact the organization with a web form that will be provided on the organization website. For example: By email

Artificial intelligent software is been considered for usage to grade students essays in some educational institutions (Markoff, John). This concept will probably be of some benefit. However, this concept of artificial intelligent software usage as a grader does have some down fall. The down fall that educational institutes should consider that technology can make life easier for daily task that human beings conduct (Joinson, Adam, 2). But when using this software the student may forget the importance of human interaction. Meaning the professor or other students feedback on the essay may provide the student with some information on their style of writing. The student ability to review their essay after the professor posts the final grade

4 may also provide the student with information on what he/she needs to work on as a writer. Or perhaps this is an exam that is been graded. Therefore, the student may need to see their exam to study for the next exam or for their own personal notes. This artificial intelligent software that educational institutions are using does have a place for a student who has disability or a student who is not able to sit in a classroom. Artificial technology should not be used in a classroom, but perhaps on a website to aide a person with a disability. According to the United States Census Bureau about 56.7 million people, 19 percent of the population, had a disability in 2010 (www.census.gov). The number of disabilities should be considered when designing a website. The considerations of all the different types of disabilities should be evaluated to aid in the design. Tools change your way of thinking, of approaching a task (and indeed the nature of the task itself), and can reap unimagined wider social changes (Joinson). To consider the tools for a person with a disability the design implication must be considered. The consideration of a person with a disability is to let the enjoyment of the website be the same as with a person without a disability. A disable person is unable to speak, hear, see and/or to move at their own will. Therefore, the concept of a design for people with and without disabilities should be a part of the design concept. Facebook has adapted a flatten design that allows an application to look smoother and even (Bilton, Nick). The flattening design is probably the best concept design for people that have problems speaking. The concept of the flattening design is in the form of a symbol that aids a non-speaking user to identify the usage of the application. Therefore, the purpose of adding the

5 flattening design to the website for the non-speaking user is to give them the same enjoyment as a person that can speak. Plus, having a voice to read the information on the website will be an aid that the user who is unable to speak may enjoy. Multimedia content such as pictures, videos, or even presentation slides can be shared through a social media website (Breslin, Passant and Decker 121). The design concept of multimedia will work as an aid to the user that has limited hearing. Pictures, videos and slide presentations can be an aid to access the user to understand the information about the organization. Using video can also be an aid for people that have limited hearing can receive provided information on the different services that the organization that are offered. Plus, with video the user can show the different projects that the organization is preparing. Using tags as a description linked to the multimedia that is been used on the website. Also designing a comment space for the user to add their suggestions and comment on the project is a way that the user can communicate with the organization. The design of the color scheme should be considered for the user with limited eye sight. The color scheme should be gentle to the eyes because the users eyes are already damage. The design should not cause any more damage that will cause the user to have damage. Plus, the color scheme should be considered to aid the organization to better the user understanding of the services and/or products that the organization is providing. Including voice activations to the website will aid the user who has limited mobility. The user will be able to communicate with the organization website by using his/her voice. The voice activation will also encourage the user to communicate with the organization

6 with feedback, suggestions and comments that will be provided through the contact us page. Plus, using the voice activation will be great aid that costumer service can use for training. The users without disability should be able to enjoy the website as much as a user with a disability. However, the limit of access to the applications users with disability should be established for only those with disabilities can only access. The user with a disability should be allowed access to the multimedia so that are able to view the projects that the organization is working on and future projects that the organization may be working on. Plus, the users should be allowed to access different ways that they can get involved in the projects. It is the responsibility of the designer of any website to allow all users the same enjoyment of what an organization is providing on their website. The information should be clear and precise. The information must be to the point for the user to be able to glimpse at for a clear understanding of what the organization is providing. The website should be seen as an upfront discussion on the organization between the people that work for the organization and the people that do not work for the organization. While designing the website the designer should ask him/herself questions base on the user. Use tests to evaluate the problems with the design before providing the users access to the website.
