Faithful Citizenship Quote

"Faithful Christians have a duty to participate in society by voting so that they may advance the common good. The common good is defined as the good of all. 'The good of the majority' is not at all the same thing as 'the good of al." Bishop Elio Sgreccia, Vice-President of the Pontifical Academy for Life, Vatican City

Mass Intentions
As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer. The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention. Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, as well as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones who have died, especially on the anniversaries of their deaths. Contact Fr. Cory for more information! Follow us on Facebook and Twi er! Carpeting Replacement
The carpeting on the main floor of St. Marys church has served the parish well for 30 years, but is overdue for replacement. In preparation for replacement, a number of parishioners have been asked to assist in choosing new carpeting. Arts Furniture has given us an estimate of $9100 to replace all carpeting on the main floor, including the sanctuary and entrance. Any contributions to defray the expense of replacement will be greatly appreciated!

Stewardship and Development

Stewardship Thought: A theme of welcome and hospitality weaves through todays Scripture passages. In Genesis, Abraham welcomes three visitors and provides them generous hospitality. In return, Abraham and Sarah are promised a son in their old age. In St. Lukes Gospel, Martha welcomes Jesus to their home, but complains to Him when Mary chooses to listen to Christ instead of help serve. What Martha does not see is that Mary shows Jesus hospitality by being attentive to Him. Welcome and hospitality are important attributes of a stewardship parish. Even having greeters welcoming those who enter the church before Mass is a simple act of stewardship that can go a long way in showing a parishs warmth and hospitality toward newcomers and existing parishioners alike. Development Thought: Heres a very simple way to make a significant contribution to benefit our parish or our diocese: Name us the owner and beneficiary of a paid-up life insurance policy that you no longer need. Without writing a check, you can make an amazing gift that can also create significant tax benefits for you. For more information, contact Judy Held, Office of Stewardship and Development, at 800-332- 9998. Thank you!

CD of the Month Club

If we are to be followers of Jesus Christ, we need to be continually learning about the faith and growing spiritually. Catechesis, the process of Faith education, doesnt stop at Confirmation or High School graduation, but is a life-long process. To aid in this process, the parish is making available the Lighthouse Catholic Media CD of the Month Club. Every month, a new talk or audiobook excerpt is released. Not only is the current months CD available - The Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic by Matthew Kelly - but a number of previous months CDs can be picked up as well. Each CD averages about 1 hour long, and is filled with great Catholic teaching, uplifting stories, and excellent speakers. Theyre great in the car, working around home, or anywhere you have a CD player! Theyre also excellent resources whenever someone has a question about a teaching of the Catholic Faith. If you or someone you know wants to learn more about the Catholic Faith, or if questions come up, pick one up today!
